I brought my car in to address the simple TSB "Service Colume Lock" and was told that only "7 of the modules are communicating as they should be. There are 20. The aftermarket stereo must be removed before we can continue..."
I have the stock head unit still in and the only thing I did was put in the connector (recommended on here) to run aftermarket amps. Have had no trouble whatsoever except that 1-time DIC warning. I'm not concerned about that code but rather "all these modules not communicating". Does anyone understand what all that means or are they just making work for me cause they're clueless... (I even printed out the TSB for them...)
clueless, having an amp added but retaining the factory headunit affects nothing. Any communication is run through the radio, but does not pass on to the other components. I've dealt with this many times in the past as a car stereo installer.

thank you im not the only one having this problem. you are the first to post. and the dealership when they finally saw a problem started with my radio. that seems okay now but they are now replacing a/c control and cruise control.
Funny thing is, I have a telescoping steering wheel and thats what the TSB and "Service Colume Lock" was referring to. Not a big deal as it only happened once and everything, including the stereo, works just fine. They told me the cars voltage system was "highly undercharged" as well based on their check - yet the amps are at 14 on the dash guage! Go figure!
