as I was riding home today I noticed far more racket than usual comming from the top of my '05 F55...I felt certain that my top had detached from its frame...and when i slightly pushed up on it, surely enough it had detached...
This is after the sales manager I bought it from said after I asked him 3 times if the recall had been performed and he said yes...about a week after i bought the car i brought it into the same dealership for tranny problems and the service manager told me 3x that the recall had been performed. Since the service manager at that dealership said that they would do nothing about my transmission, I went to a different dealership for the same transmission problem (which they said they'd do nothing about) and the service manager there said that the recall had NOT been done and that they would do it for me at that dealership...when i got the car back i asked 3 times if they had finally done the recall and he said yes 3x...i drove away (with the same amount of roof noise as before i brought it in) thinking it was ok...
the question i have is what do i need to do (aside from the usual "I'll buy a competetor's car", i.e. a porsche or something to that effect) to get these guys to treat me right? it seems to me that they aren't too concerned about my business...I am very young, and like I have said before, if I weren't so diehard chevy, I would be in the market for anything high performance...that really isn't good for Chevy and GM's future in the car market in my opinion because it's people like me who've bought $60k cars at age 23, and who've had GOOD experiences from dealerships and service folks, who will buy from them in 20, 30, and hopefully 40 years from now...

To be fair, the recall doesn't call for replacing the roof when there are no signs of delamination. Just the foam "fix". But it is well known that replacement with the new top is the only true fix.
However, since they lied to you about your tranny, I wouldn't trust them anyway. There is nothing you can do to make that dealership treat you right. All you can do is stop giving them business, and find another one that you can trust.
that is unacceptable so dont accept it. Go up the chain of command until you find someone that really cares. You will once you go high enough. GM knows how much market share theyve lost and trust me, you will find someone that cares and can make sure those below him/her start caring too. You are the future of Corvette and GM, dont give up.
i'm also upset at the fact that i feel like i may be stuck with the car since anyone can look up a carfax these days and see that i saw a dealership twice about tanny problems which there was no action taken...as well as the fact that the week after i got the car the driver's side floor filled with water after it rained...which the dealership that i bought it from said that they fixed it (while scratching up my door seals), which they didn't...and then i took it to another dealership after it partially filled again, which they ended up fixing it...along the way i had to esentially go through an act of congress to get a rental all the while missing hours of work because i didn't have a car and their shuttle was always "late"
the car is still under warranty (3 years 36k miles right?... '05,13k miles) plus i was dumb enough to get suckered into buying a "platinum" 7 year 70k mile extended warranty thinking that it would help the resale value (I'd like to buy a used C6Z in the next couple of years...so the car will have to be sold before then)
I agree call regional people. Other suggestion. Call a service mgr in another city, and ask him whom you can call. If you keep your cool and tell him you are not trying to get back at dealer, but that your dealer is not doing you any good, and he is not doing GM any good by repeatedly dropping the ball.
I have found that such an approach produces some good names and numbers of people who can make things happen.
I guess I will start at the service manager level in the morning, and begin working my way up as I see fit. Thanks for the posts! I truly hope I recieve favorable results...I really don't want to get lawyers involved!!!!!
Man, I must have double posted somehow...anywho, thanks for the responses...I am going to start with the service manager in the morning and then work my way up as needed...I'm really glad now that my car is a fully optioned car with both tops (although I never use the transparent top until now)! I Certainly hope we can work out all of the nitty gritty because I really don't want to get lawyers involved!
I am going to be just as nice as I always am...I'll let what I say do the job and not the tone in which I say it...although I will get my point accross as always!
Some states have laws to protect consumers against deceptive trade practices. I would say lying to you about a repair that was obviously not done counts as deception. Don't give up, good luck.

make it two pieces that way you can walk in and throw the fiberglass part at the sales manager nevermind go for the general manager. and the shell at the service manager. aim for thier heads. im sure you would then have thier attention. people wonder why i get so pissed off. it cuase i have alot more then the aholes to lose. i would not give you advise if i myself wouldn't do it. do this on a weekend around 5pm. im sure there would be a few customers that would get the point.
you may get a free night stay with food. but hell i bet they would get the point. please take the time to read my fine print. this is meant to be entertaining. and if you do it i would be entertained. but in no way do i want you to do it and not have the ***** to take reponsibilty for your own actions. you are a man of resonable mind and make your own choices. dont come back and sue me. if you decide to take my suggestions

each dealership is independent. and would not come str8 out and admit they scam warrenty work. they will act like they care, but when it goes down. it just another day and no heads will roll. start at the top the general manger or owner/ and at the same time go to gm. hell a confrence call on your cell phone would be great. gm cust service dealer general manager + sales manager+ service manager = your satisfaction. but good luck on getting that to happen
I had a similar instance with a dealer in the 1980's and it so turned me off I bought foreign util this '07 LT1. After 25 years of thinking about it I would do one of two things.
Either go to a different dealer and mildly explain the situation and give him a try OR call the GM Regional Manager, explain the situation and ask if he could recomend a different dealer. These guys get paid big bucks to keep you from complaining up the food chain. Regionals are Regionals because of years of sales and people skills and the ability to satisfy a customer and put out the fires of complaint.
Probably trying to work with the existing dealer won't work and complaining won't help much. Might make it worse.
There are lots of better dealers today and you can find referrals from this site. I bought from a dealer 100 miles away yet there are dealers five miles from me.
us young guys generally get treated like sh*t...they were giving me the run around until i went into the service department one day...flipped out...got the gm canada number and spoke to someone about my problems...when i adressed the right person...my problem was taken care of within days...and all of a sudden i was called sir...the lady taking care of me on the gm side also called me a few days later to follow up and make sure everything was taken care of

What am I missing, car is under warranty, why are they not honoring the warranty. What are they claiming for why it's not covered under warranty. Somethings not right or theres a lot of information missing.
