I thought I would remind Forum members that March 31 is fast approaching and is the deadline for dealing with the roof delamination issue. If you have a problem after that the repair will be out of your pocket so make sure you get this looked at.
If you received the recall campaign notification letter, then your car is part of the safety recall. A safety recall is good for the life of the car.
From NHTSA:
Recalls involving tires are specifically limited in the Safety Act such that the owner has only three months from the date of notification to have the recall work accomplished. All other safety recalls are in effect for the life of the product.

Yes but if you continue to ignore the recall letters they have been sending they can make you pay after March 31. Thats the way I understand it. If you have it fixed and it fails anytime in the future you are still covered.
This recall never expires. My dealer knows I don't bring my car out in inclement weather like ice/snow so when I called and asked about any required time table for having it fixed , that's when they said to bring it in whenever I want because it never expires.
Thanks for the Heads up! Mine has been taken care of, but many have not. whether or not its a lifetime deal, I dont know, but this is a good time to take care of it!

Nope, a safety recall lasts for the life of the vehicle and MUST be done at no charge. These are both required provisions of a safety recall. The manufacturer must provide free repairs and the recall lasts for the life of the car.

That was in the original service advisory letter that was sent out. Subsequent to that, it became a safety recall and now has no expiration date.
Even though my roof "officially" failed and replaced with a new SMC last Aug my car was NEVER RECALLED. It was purely a customer complaint that the dealer correctly handled.
I wonder WHY all affected VIN's were not officially recalled. In my case since the dealer already fixed it and all that would be necessary is to affix the "campaign" sticker to my car and make appropriate entries in my cars official history.
