Default Indicated Fuel Range Question

The indicated fuel range via the DIC on my '07 coupe seems to be reading significantly low. I assume the range is a calculation based on fuel tank remaining volume (18 gallon capacity) and the average MPG reading. I would estimate that the indicated range is about 20% low assuming the fuel gauge and MPG inputs are accurate. Anyone else notice or experience this issue?

I think what may be going on with you is that you've been doing a good deal of city driving. Or lower mile per gallon stuff. It continually recalculates based on the actual mpg's you're getting.

As you do more highway miles the computer will adjust your miles per gallon upward which will increase the range in the DIC.

It is calculating your range based on your current mpg; it you've been driving in town, your mpg is lower and your estimated range is less. I've driven for 2-3 hours at highway speeds, and run the estimated range down to 50 miles...after that, range was no longer displayed. The amount left in the tank at that time was about two gallons, so it was preety darn close.
