After trying most of the fixes discussed on this forum, with little success, I finally bought the Momo Alusp **** (solid chromed aluminum), and no rattle! Previsously I had tried the Momo Racair and the Sparco Bio, and I still had rattle. I taped the shaft with teflon tape, used the thinnest rubber cap that came with the ****, and the rattle is gone! Been three days now and not a hint, even after spending most of my time trying to get it rattle.
I can't tell you how much more I am enjoying driving now. Before, just about everytime I got on the throttle the rattling was loud and ruined the overall aesthetic effect of rowing through the gears. Now all I hear is that big engine and growl of the exhaust; much more pleasing. I do notice the engine ticking more, but I'm comfortable that is just the signature song of the Chevy small block.
I know people claim a fix is coming from GM. I'll believe it when I see it. But right now even if it did come out, I'd probably not take it. No sense fixing what aint broke.
Vetteship here on the forum was the first that I saw who wrote that this fixed the rattle. I know Foosh also had success with the Sparco Bio, but that didn't work for me. Also, the Bio is a lot taller than the Momo product. I like Alusp. Feels like the throws are shorter, and it feels good in the hand. Just don't be too nutso about fingerprints; you'l get them in the chrome. Some have complained about cold and heat, but so far it hasn't been too much of a problem (of course, I've only had it a few days, but its gotten down into the 30s at night).
Do you have a pic of the shifter in your car. I stopped in at the dealer today and asked about the TSB on the axle rumble and whether or not they had a TSB yet on the shifter rattle. The guy behind the counter spent 10min on the computer and could find nothing on either topic.
I don't mind replacing the shifter **** if that fixes it. Just would like to see it. The MoMo website is kind of generic....
thanks!

Thanks, I bookmarked that. I have an M6 on order, if I have the dreaded rattle I now have a fix.
I got an email from GM telling me the fix will be at the dealer within the next month. I suspect that the fix may already been included in the latest '07's. Someone made a post or suggestion to that effect recently, but I can't find the reference.
Also the rattle in many or most cases is much worse in cold weather, so it may not be apparent again until next year. My rattle totally disappeared with the warm weather.
I had my 05 in for service last week and asked about the shifter rattle (didn't know there was a TSB on it). Service guy said that they ordered a whole new unit (whatever that means) and it should be in 70-10 days. Don't know if that is real people days or service parts days which could mean by July or gee it came in but we didn't remember for whom so we sent it back.
If it does come in I'll report on it.
