I have lurked for a while on here and gotten the sense of what I have known intuitively that most vette guys / girls support each other.

I have programmed my blackberry with a daily morning reminder about the sensibility issue.

On a side note.

We all have a reason why we started our love affairs with vettes.

My father was fixing a big block convertible that was a beautiful orange colour when I was a young teen.

The owner had it in to have the notorious rear leaf spring fixed as the wheels were tipping in at the tops.

I could not believe my eyes as I sat in the car as a young pre teen.

The smell, the non functioning clock, flip up headlights and flip up wiper door. Awesome.

I asked my dad if I could clean the car for him. He agreed and I set about handwaxing it as my dad had taught me, detailed the interior (cue tips in the vents etc.)

When I was done it was spotless and perfect.

The owner came the next day and was stunned at the car's appearance and tipped my dad. He pointed out that it was me that did it.

The owner said come with me. With top down I found out what a scare and a thrill it was in a big block vette. I was in love that could not end.

He stopped a block away from my house in an empty parking lot and got out of the car.

He walked over to my side of the car and asked if I wanted to take it around the lot. You couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

I never got more than 10 or 20 mph but feathering the throttle a little gave me goose bumps.

From that day forward everything I have done in my life is for the purpose of getting a corvette for myself. From my 75 coupe to my 07 conv. all 5 of my vettes have been the motivation in my life.

I cut hours of grass with a push mower for my 75.

I worked my butt off to get to the NHL for one reason. Not because I loved the game ( which I did), not for the hockey card (now worth 40 cents) not for the fame. It was for one reason to afford a new corvette.

Except to members of the board this can not be explained with any understanding.
I tip my hat to you sir, wonderful story!

What good is having a 400 HP car if you on can only use the power on the track? Like one of the previous posters said, you must know when you can use it. I'm a LEO and routinely drive 120 plus on the freeways and well above the speed limit on surface streets. The new Crown Victoria's handle and stop much better than the old ones, but compared to my C6, it's night and day.

Imagine being able to drive your C6 with impunity. (almost) If your drag racing, DUI, going over 100, all bets are off. I drive too fast sometimes, but always know my limitations, and try to anticipate the stupid drivers. And yes, I still keep and eye out for black and whites, and have a Passport X50.

I understand where you are coming from. The thrill is only a tap of your toes away. I know about "passing with extreme prejudice", when just a little acceleration would do instead. I am entering my 40's and like to believe all my irresponsible insane driving days are behind me. I still have my moments of weakness though. I feel guilty & a little foolish when I succumb to temptation to do risky things in the Vette.

I was particularly bad today, and had to take the car back home to the garage because I felt like I was just asking for trouble. I know there is definately one guy out there probably still talking about the dick in the yellow Corvette. Of course it takes two to tango, and he has begging for some whoopass

I'll leave the details to your imaginations so as to not violate any forum rules.

A lot of Amish communities are not far from where I live here. Great roads for a weekend drive, two lane, lots of curves, well maintained and generally light traffic. For those of you that aren't aware, Amish folks use horse and buggy transportation. A few years back, we were out cruising on one of these great roads, came to a blind rise in the road. Once we topped it, it was all laid out in front of us. A pickup truck had topped the rise going to fast and hit one of these buggies from behind. Buggy was destroyed, it's passengers killed - almost an entire Amish family, horse was down and euthanized on the spot. Horrific scene to put it mildly.

All this reminds me everytime I go out in the vette, just how fast I can turn my life and somebody else's into a freaking nightmare by just getting a little crazy with the vette. It is what it's made for, but pushing it too hard on a public road can result in events I don't even want to think about. So, while driving schools are a great idea, and tracking the car is even a better idea when the urge hits, I just think about that scene over the blind rise whenever I get the urge to nail it in somewhat less than ideal conditions...lightens my right foot real fast.

Marty the "WHINER give me some cheese" Brodeur? Always complaining about guys running him when hes OUT of the net playing a puck "Their touching me Ref" Waaa Waaa , and "The leagues picking on goalie equipment size" waaa waaa, he wore a size 60 sweater! Heck if it was up to him the goalies would look like Garth Snow when he donned the 2x4's on his shoulder pads looking like the transformers!
Seriously, he's a great goalie and all records are made to be broken, I'm happy it will be him because he is one of the best. FYI, they didn't have shootouts in Parents era, Brodeur has 12 shoot out wins, and I believe they only played 80 games, so it gets an *
If he just learned how to stop whining about getting hit, he would be a class act "one of the best" ever.

BUT, we're still in first!

BTW, Don't be a noob , update your profile so we can see where your from with (city, state)! Who is YOUR team, devils???

I love how people are so sour that the Devils have someone who is considered by a wide range of hockey fans to be the best goalie EVER!

I'll get on updating my profile right after the game!

Say what you'd like but: 7 division championships and 3 cups for an orginization that is only 24-25 years old isn't anything to scoff at. Tough loss for your boys in orange, they truly played their hearts out as they have nothing to play for this season (at all.)

At least congratulate Marty on breaking the all-time wins by a goalie in a single season record, or are you one of those "I throw D batteries on the ice/field Philly fans"?

We shoot flares and pelt Santa Claus, come on give us some credit.
As I said Brodeur is one of the best to play the game.
At least he admitted how much easier it is to get to 48 vs. Bernies era in the post game interview
But then he also admitted sleeping with his wifes sister which is why hes single now
