Question for 2005 C6 vert's!
I have been monitoring your site for years. It's fantastic. I've always wanted a corvette which stemed from my father's love of the car as I grew up (He had an 85 and I was hooked ever since). Well, I may have an opportunity for a 2005 Victory Red convertible with essentially 18,000km (yes, a Canadian). The vehicle has the 1SB/Z51/Nav package in an automatic. It appears to be in excellent condition with a single owner whom traded it in for new Z06 (lucky person). I'm waiting for the exact history of this car and should have the information by the end of today. I have been told that the vehicle has been serviced at the same dealership as well. The only modification I could tell was the exhaust (likely a Borla).
The warranty expires in November 2008 so I have to decide on an extended warranty (I drive about 15K per year or less...low k's).
I reviewed this forum and found some differences between the 2005 vs 2006 models. I also reviewed factory recalls (A few too many for my comfort as I have an S2000 and had none). My question relates to what I should be asking the dealership in light of the above? I know to inquire about the recalls, obtain the service records, etc. All suggestions are welcome and hopefully, one day, I'll post a photo of a new (I mean, previously obsessed over) corvette.
Thank-you everyone.

Loved the S2000, love the Corvette.
They are very different cars, each has advantages over the other.
I do miss the "nimbleness" of the S2000, but I love the low end torque in the Corvette.
Enjoy it when you get it!
(The S2000 was taken from my by a moron in a 98 Dodge pickup truck, who failed to slow down... very crashworthy car!)
Just check the tires. They look good on the outside edge that you can easily see but the fronts wear on the inside. I just got back from from the tire store about $2k lighter for all four.
Now if the weather would just clear to be able to enjoy it with the top down.

I have not had opurtunity to put on many miles, but to my knowledge you can buy the extended warranty right up untill the original expires.Love the car,it is a great toy, albeit not a cheap one, lol, but a toy none the less,
BTW,if you do buy the car cool, and welcome to the site!

The negotiation is still on. However, we are still too far apart given we are trading in our 2002 S 2000 (told it was the best one they have ever seen as it has hardly any km's) and a 2006 Yaris RS edition with 4000 km's (wife's...she's great...work location changed and walks to work...yes, I'm a lucky guy.) plus the difference on $59,900 CDN.
Thanks for the comments thus far. What is of concern, is that the front left rim and tire have damage. It appears a curb has been hit at the very least. Perhaps just my imagination, but there was also a little bit of debris in between the plastic cover for the wheel housing and the front fender. I'm not sure if this is normal. Comments? Closer inspection also revealed a slight mis-alignment of the left-front clip to the fender area. I'm uncertain if this was just co-incidence, but an observation none the less. We realize I'm not purchasing a high-end Euro vehicle (re: perfect alignment, etc), but we are just being ultra-cautious. We plan to have an independent 3rd party whom has knowledge of body work (and corvette's) to provide his/her comments. It's likely nothing, but you never know. Naturally, we'll check other corvettes as well.
The vehicle history is clean. Nothing. One owner and local (no negotiation on that one for us). The factory recall for the power steering hose was also completed.
Hence, at minimum, the rims/tires need to be looked at (alignment/camber check, etc) and vehicle inspected. The dealership said it wouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for the advice on the tires. Yes, they can be expensive. Can we change the run-flats in the future to regular tires?
Thank-you everyone.
