I would like to get some interesting dialogue going about this, please. Ok, now I realize some of you guys and girls have driven or even owned other sports or sporty cars. I recently had the opportunity to drive a Porsche 911 Cabriolet C2, 911 C2, porsche boxster, and honda s2000. Here comes my question, does the corvette feel like it's heavy compared to those cars? The corvette only weighs 3100 pounds, and the boxster and s2000 obviously weigh less but not that much. The 911s probably weigh more than the corvette. All the other cars just feel like the weigh less than the corvette. The vette just feels heavy. Is it just me or does anyone else agree? Thanks for your opinions...

I gotta admit, my C6 isn't as snappy in traffic as my '00 Honda S2000.... 300-400 lbs , wider tires and a longer wheelbase make a big difference! I do also admit that at higher speeds, the C6 seems alot more stable!
I've driven most of the cars you mention, and yes, I think Corvettes do have a heavier feel than the others...Face it, there is a lot of weight over the front wheels, the car is wider than all the cars mentioned, plus has a longer wheelbase. But look at what you are comparing, two with mid engine technology, and lighter 4 cylinder front engine cars...of course the 'vette is going to feel heavier... The heavy feel of the C6 was the first thing I noticed about it...then I mashed the go pedal...
The driver's position toward the rear of the car is part of it. That makes it feel like you're piloting a larger heavier car. The slow steering and large turning radius doesn't help either.
The Vette has never felt like the most nimble car (although, in fact, it holds its own just fine). As others have mentioned, the long wheelbase (expecially in the C6) and wide tires have a lot to do with it compared to the cars on your list. Personally, I prefer the slightly heavy feel (although I admire the 911 series, I have never liked driving them), but it is a matter of personal taste ...
I've owned and driven many sports cars over the years and, IMHO, the Vette does feel heavy compared to everything else I've driven. There are probably many reasons for this, most of them having been mentioned already .. like the long wheelbase and very wide track.
I personally think the feel of the steering also is a major culprit here. While fairly well weighted, it really doesn't provide much in the way of road feel. In fact, to me anyway, it feels pretty numb compared to most sports cars.
This car just feels bigger and heavier than it really is. It handles well and can pull amazing lateral force numbers, but it really does lack that "tossable" quality that I find so enjoyable in most other 2 seat performance/sports cars.
Absolutely, the Corvette feels much heavier than what it is actually weighs. It weighs about the same as my Accord but the Accord feels like a bicycle compared to the Vette. I had an '01 Trans Am that weighed much more than the Vette but it had a lighter feel too. BUT, I still love her!
Feels heavier...maybe. I think it is a function of the width and the longer wheelbase. My wife's test of cars is the sleep test. Long trip, I am driving, can she sleep in the passenger seat? With the c6 (F55) the answer is a resounding yes. With my 01 S2000 and some other sports cars I have had....nope, not even close, the road feel is just too much!
Like some others have said, the vette to me now feels light after driving my Tahoe.
The vette just feels heavy. Is it just me or does anyone else agree?
FWIW if and/or when I'm in triple-digits I thank the good Lord in Heaven for the weighty "feeling".
That weight xlates directly into solid tracking ergo fabulous stability, IMO.
I know what you mean sometimes, feels heavy, a small part of it is the heavy on center steering feel and long wheel base but mostly its because I forget to nail the gas peddle. I am serious, get a good safe stretch of road and nail the gas and tell me it feels heavy, to me it feels like its going to take off.
I had a 911 many many years ago, (1978) and loved that car, but the front end always felt a little light IMO. I am on board with a little heavier is better.
