My garage was converted to a family room and I'll be parking my 07 C6 in the driveway (supposed to arrive 4/19). The sun in San Diego is relentless, and I need to put up a canopy. Has anybody put one up? Any recommendations? I don't want to use a fitted car cover, been there, done that.
Costco has a unit for about $200 or less. I believe it's 10 X20 with 8 beefy poles and a full enclosure. The enclosures use is optional. I had a similiar unit in my driveway for about 7 years. The tops last about 3 years and can be replaced easily for about $75. I keep my 2 daily drivers under whenever posssible. It makes a great sunshade and keeps leather interiors from cooking. Also great in NY winters to keep frost off the windshield(no more scraping) They are usually white but I have seen beige units.
PS MY vette is in the garage!!

I'm in Seattle and have one. No garage. Keeps off the rain, what little sun we have and best of all the seagull sh**! (I live on the beach).
I don't have a specific recommendation for a canopy but my advice is to not skimp on the cost and quality of whichever unit you choose. The cheap ones are o.k. but can fail. Here is my cheap canopy during a winter snow storm a few years ago. It collapsed on my only four wheel drive vehicle in the midst of a snow storm where I really needed the Jeep. You really wouldn't want Corvette under there. Now, I know that snow would be much of a concern for you but this was mostly water as slush and such started falling at the beginning of a storm.
I bought an aluminum 2 1/2 car canopy for $995 installed. I've had 2 feet of snow on it and it never squeeked. Those cloth deals scare me. I absolutely love mine. I found some aluminum panels and actually enclosed the whole thing now (mine is in the back yard) and it serves as a second garage for the vette and the 50.

Yes, snow could be a problem. When it snows in NY Igo out once or twice while its snowing to shake it off. Bert will not have that problem, he's in San Diego.

Snow in San Diego? Sure, but only up in the Laguna Mountains. Heck, it rarely rains here! Sun is the main enemy. I guess I need to go surfin'--on the Internet.
Check out Duraports.com, this is a friend of mine that is manufacturing and installing exactly what your Vette deserves if having to live outside.
I've seen many installations and would have one myself if my idiot
POA would allow.

TATPAD-- Thanks for the referral. Duraports puts out a great looking product! I've contacted them, but wonder if there is any good source in California for overhead sun protection. Most members on this board have garages, and I need to protect my C6 from that famous California sun! I'm open to any more suggestions

If you have a Lowes in your area, check out their aluminum car ports. I first saw one when I visited my son in AZ. I have mine for about 5 years on my boat property in N.Y. They run about $1k, but they last a long time. At home ,I have the Costco poly type in the driveway for my other cars as mentioned earlier.
