I was just on vacation for 10 days and came home this morning. Started up the new Vert and went for a ride. Driving down the highway I opened the window partially and started going over some bumpy pavement. I heard a strange noise, somewhat like a twisting noise, and put the window up. Now there is a rattle or vibration or squeak in the driver's window only when raised.
The window is still indexing properly, but when down or slightly cracked open the noise completely stops. When the window is up and fully closed the noise returns.

Any ideas???
When the window is up, the bottom of the glass frame pulls on the inside door panel. When you move the window down, this bit of pressure is released. Maybe if the dealer removes the door panel and re-seats it your noise will disappear.

I have a similar problem with my '06 vert. It started after the dealer checked the door panels for excessive vibration from the Bose speakers. The noise seems like it is coming from the door itself, but only when the window is up all the way.

same here but more noticable when outside temps are low(40s).
I just noticed this same problem on my new coupe which only has 2,700 miles. It kind of soon for it but it has gone through very cold weather in Kentucky and now hot weather here in Miami.
When I drive over bumps the driver's window squeaks, if I lower the window and drive over the same bumps it does not squeak.
I checked the owner's to see if it could be related to the weatherstripping and it does seem to be that. Check out page 411 "Weatherstrips".
I also did a search on yahoo for this problem and found a post on a BMW forum were someone had this same exact problem, applied silicone grease and it went away! I'm getting some this week.

Reason: typo
It must be a common problem, my 07 Vert does EXACTLY the same thing. It really bugs me, so I'll share any info if I can find the fix. I too think the source is the weatherstrip - maybe I can lube it without too much of a mess.
