Yes it can be a DIY job. Did the rears myself, but due to my metalic paint blending requirements, easier to paint the fenders and nose while their off the car. So, unless you want to take a chance on color matching fenders and bumper off of the car (non metalic paints only), I would reccoment working with a body shop to paint and install. After I did the rears, my paint guy had to drop the rear bumper to blend in the fenders and paint the bumper as well.
Then, had the fronts put on by my body man who blended the fronts into the doors as well.
Hoffie has done many rears pre painted but they are non metalic. Match OK
When you are spending this kind of money on the whole kit, I reccomend a body shop. Some are out of line, but many are very reasonable.
With 4 Z06 tires, chrome Z06 rims, Z06 fenders and bumpers, paint, you are looking at around $9-$10K. You might be able to sell your old rims, tires, fenders and bumpers. I did and got back $2K
