Default Dash kit removal??

Just recieved my first vette today!! '07 LMB coupe, transparent top, Z51, 3LT, Ebony/grey two toned interior, Borla stingers, absolutely beautiful, couldn't be more excited.
My question is if anyone knows how to properly remove the dash kit. I am going to run a radar detector cord from the accesory power outlet wire to the dash but I want to run it under the dash kit, and I don't see how to get it off with out screwing it up. Thanks so much in advance, this forum has been so helpful in helping me learn about vettes and ordering my new toy!!

Why not just wire it into the mirror?

I thought about that but I think I want to mount it on the dash, I've read where it can be better to mount the detector as low as possible on the window or dash. I also though it might look cool too

Howdy, congrats on the new purchase.

You might search the forum for threads on shifter or stereo upgrades - those threads will likely have details on how to remove the dash components.

Thats wrong. The higher you mount the detector the better the radar detection range. A lower mount is usually preferred for laser on light colored cars, because of sun reflections washing out laser reception, but I'd rather have better radar range.

The vette already sits very low, so you need the best range you can get.

I've got my Valentine 1 mounted in the middle of the windshield just below the rearview mirror.

Yours is suction cuped to the windshield. What length of invisacord did you go with?

3 hours to remove the dash kit piece? Im talking about just the plastic piece that goes around the radio, shifter, vents, etc, its one removable piece.

Where did you read that as low is possible is best? That's the complete opposite of everything I've read, which says the higher the better.

Just get an invisicord and great lakes visor or mirror mount - 5 minute install and be done with it, and it'll look good and be optimally placed as far as range (i.e. HIGH up, where you want it).
