Earlier this afternoon I was just cruising down I-81 at about 60 MPH and I hear 3 chimes....I lose power and my DIC reads Reduced Power Setting and the check engine light is on...nothing like a Vette that feels like its running on 2 cylinders (which it may be!).
Anyway, I pull over...all guages indicate proper temp ranges and pressures...read my manual...best I can tell maybe something to do with the emission control system (passed my annual emissions inspection last month). I then limp home at about 50 mph max going downhill! Nothing like feeling older than you are putzing along in the right lane and everyone staring at you!
Has anyone had a similar reduced power experience, and if so, what did your problem turn out to be? Thanks.
I had an OnStar diagnostic done and spoke with my local dealership....it appears to be a bad Throttle Pressure Sensor. I'll take it in on Wednesday and let everyone know the final readout. Thanks for your interest!

I think I had a TPS fixed in my 96' Sebring a few years back...don't recall it being cheap, but you're probably under warranty!!
Just wanted to close out this thread. As it was suspected during the preliminary analysis after the 3 chime alarm and reduced power mode was activated, the Throttle Pressure Sensor was bad. Replaced under warranty...new sensor was overnighted to get me back on the road! Thanks Lawrence Chevrolet in Mechanicsburg, PA. They indicated that this appears to be a rare problem. All is good!

I guess if you're going to break down, "Mechanics"burg would be the place to do it!
I believe it is a throttle position sensor. The same thing happened to my 05 about year ago the first (and about the last) time my wife drove the car.
No problem since.
