Well the car is around 12k and the tires are getting bald. So I think that I wanna buy some real good tires. I'm looking at the pzero's at tirerack(which i think are the new pzero heros that are saposed to be really really good)
well my question is obviously they are rated good everywhere, but i cant find anything on the wear. How long woudl these tires last? Anyone have any experiences with them?
I have PZeroes on my station wagon. P245-35-19 and P275-30-19. I've only put a few thousand miles on them, but they're holding up better than I expected, particularly considering the amount of rubber I often leave on the ground from the rears.
The ride is fantastic too. Smooth and quiet. I'm pleased with them.
Tom
P.S. It's a BMW 540 wagon, supercharged, 415hp.
Heres what i psoed on my other new thread when i realized i have one here so deleted other one and am posting here
Ok well I know theres been couple tire question already but i have the 19/20 combo so cancels out alot of tires. i have 245-35-19 and 285-30-20
Here is my selection,do you guys have any reccommendation from there, im thinking the pzero's but im worried about their tread wear being to fast
Yeah, I know, lots of people are surprised I have them on a wagon. I'm actually building it out to be my drag car (OK, and kid carrier). My next step is a NOS shot, probably a 50+50 dual action.
My goal is a sub-13 second quarter.
Can't you see it. Chubby older guy (me) in his Station wagon pulls into a lane next to some 20 year-old in his Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Can you imagine the poor kid coming back to the line where all his friends are waiting after he has been completely toasted by the guy in the station wagon?

I had Pirelli PZero Neros on my VW Jetta in 225/40ZR-18 and hated them! They lasted OK, but the sidewall did not have the rim protection rib and I damaged 3 of my 4 BBS wheels because of that. They were a little cheaper than the Michelin Pilot Sports I had on there before so I thought I would save a few dollars! Unfortunately at $500 a wheel, I ended up spending much more than I saved on tires. They also did not grip in wet weather or on dry pavement nearly as well as the Michelins. On my new Vette, hopefully I won't find out about the Goodyears in the wet or snow since I don't want to take it in those conditions. And so far I am happy with the Goodyears, but I have not pushed the car yet
again though, those are the nero's this is a completely different tire!
What do you mean by rim protection, i mean only thing that it protects os if u lightly hit them against a ccurb or something, i just plan on never getting that close to scuffing them

The rib doesn't only protect from the curb ( and I never "planned" on getting close to a curb either!) but it also helps protect the wheel from potholes too. I never suffered a single problem with the Michelins but like I said, with the Pirellis, I bent two wheels on potholes and curbed one.
And as someone else eluded to, performance tires don't last long. Generally if you get high mileage, you get reduced grip. Softer compounds will get better grip, but at the expense of mileage.
And I do not see a "PZero Hero" on Tire Rack's site (thought it was a typo?) but thought you meant "Nero" which is what I was commenting on!
Ok looks liek ill prabably go with the michelin ps2's look like a really good tire along with good wear.
Last problem is with 245-35-19 on my front,my rim sticks out like 1\4 inch!(rims 9.5, max that can fit is 9.5,so still ok)
well i wanted to know if i can get 255-35-19's b\c they have that size and it woudl take care of the problem....
or even taking it further, can i get 265-35-19(or 265-30-19) on the front and 295-25-20 in the back that woudl be sweet, putting mroe rubber on the road! Also keep in mind i have a 2.5 inch drop so dont want it rubbing
Well they are nicknamed hero, but they are jsut pzero with nothing after.
so you bought the michelin pilot sport ps2's? they are really good?
The Michelins that I owned were the Pilot Sport which is a directional tire. The PS2s are an assymetrical tread pattern and though I have heard some good things about them, I have no experience with them. Either way though, I would not expect much better treadlife!
