Is there anyway to get the dvd player in the Z to play entertainment dvds while the car is sitting? I figured there had to be a way to do this

There is a VERY long thread over in C6 General on trying to crack the NAV system to enable this function. Hundreds of people have been trying to crack the system but have thus far been unsuccessful. No one knows for sure that this particular NAV unit has the capability.

If it can read a Nav DVD it SHOULD have dvd capability that can be overcome with programming. Essentially every dvd has basic things in common and if it can read one it should be able to read the other. I was reading on older XLRs people found a code to play dvds

This is the thread where people have exhausted pretty much every option trying to crack it and have been unsuccessful. Feel free to browse all 429 posts and see what steps have already been taken.

Perhaps GM should spend the $5 it would take to modify the NAV system to allow real DVD's to play rather than, say, spend the money on Jetstream Blue paint?

If you don't find the answer you are looking for you can pull the head unit out and send it to New York to www.tvandnav2go.com and they will make it play entertainment DVD's.
