Who else is jealous of the LS3?[Merged]

GM love's folks like you. They get someone into a $50K+ car and a year or two into it they "tweak" it and a large percentage will rush out and sell their one or two year old car at a considerable loss just to have the latest/greatest car sitting in their driveway.
Keeping up with the Jonses gets expensive at this level.
Good luck.

I think it is great that Corvette is moving forward and not backward. I would like to know if this new engine is DOD. If not, I think it is even better. Kind of like the interior changes too. But, I'm not upset with just buying an 07. I have it now and in a couple of years I'll be considering something else if all continues to go well in this great country of ours.

I am a little bit, but it won't really bother me until (and only if) someone in an LS3 dethrones my top of the list, stock LS2 1/4 mile time, then it might bother me.

Not jealous at all - the "extra" 36 hp comes from a new exhaust and some headers, etc. That's all. The mods you can buy today will get you way more than that, and I'm willing to bet that the mods cost a hell of a lot less than what the 2008 LS3 will cost us. Plus, I want to see what the 4LT stuff costs. I'm willing to bet that a full-on 4LT car (which, according to Rick @ Les Stanford will NOT be available for several months into the 2008 MY), with all the goodies will easily pass $65k. That, combined with the inevitable "issues" that a new engine will have, means that I am waiting a while. I want to see what the MSRP is before anything else. Notice there has been NO mention of cost in all these posts?

I'm a little bit too. It's nice to make the same amount of power header/tune LS2's do stock. The modded LS3's should be well over 400rwhp with just bolt-ons.
In any case, anyone with an LSx motor has a great platform to make power with.

Gas in my area is now the highest in history....92 octane ( best here ) was $3.599 yesterday....going up 10 -15 cents a day for no reason except extra profits are needed by big oil.
This has a huge ripple effect on discretionary luxury spending.

I am a little. Knew about the engine hp bump before I jumped on the 2007. Standard and optional items which would have been nice on the 2007 include:
1. MP3 player input. Nice and something the 06-07 should have had.
2. Optional Z06 exhaust - cool feature I would have gone with on the 2007.
3. XM Standard? - Nice standard feature even though I would probably de-activate it in 6 months!
I too am glad that Corvette is moving forward. Good for GM. I hope they can sell a bunch of them for MSRP for the first few months and the car does not have any new issues.
To you who ordered a 2008, I am very happy for you. Nice bump in standard features I hope will be worth the wait.

Definately jealous of the new 4lt, pending pictures of the black/red combo, and I wouldn't kick the LS3 outta bed.
Will I be in line at the dealer to trade up, no. I bet the 4lt doesn't come cheap, and I suspect the days of $8k discounting are over (for a year or two).

Going to be a small SOTP change which is good but not a big deal. Its already easy to get as much hp as you want now if your going for big ponies so I see the engine as the least important change the car gets for 08.
Like many I had hoped for an interior that made a Tahoe like improvement. Where is the bluetooth? Why don't we get the cruise off the overloaded left stock and on the wheel where it belongs? Am I the only one that feels the wheel looks unbalanced with the audio on one side and the other side being blank? In the same vein am I alone in thinking the new leather wrap looks forced?
Don't get me wrong here, if I were in the market right now I would hold off and get an 08 because more power is always better but mostly to avoid buying a year old new car.

If it is DoD I wouldnt be jealous of 475 hp or even more.
Granted, it may not be, but if the LS3 is DoD, the LS2 will prove to be the better platform, for both types of folks. If you dont use the 400 hp you have, you dont need more. If you want more power, the LS2 has shown that it takes mods and boost very well. Hell, the cutting edge FI Z06s are barely making more power than the FI C6s out there, for a substantial difference in price.
