Just curious how many members are new to the Corvette/American muscle car family since the introduction of the C6?
I have owned only German and Japanese luxury cars for the past 10 years with a few sports cars sprinkled in along the way. The C5 was a looker when introduced but the C6 made my mouth hit the floor when I saw it during a 2004 Superbowl commerical. Now that we have an SUV and a sedan for the kids its time for daddy to get a new toy and it will be a C6. After doing my research and seeing what you get for the money, Chevrolet has built a masterpiece. I test drove one last week and im still smiling. The rumble of just the stock exhaust @ WOT is intoxicating.
Just wanted to see who else has came over from other foreign brands to enjoy the look, feel and value of a C6.
same here!!! been driving german & japanese cars for a long time! hadn't owned a america car since 1986 (stang, was the worse america car I had) & now I love my vette!
My new C6 is the 4th car I have owned. I drove a Nissan Silvia (think 240SX) in Japan and a different Silvia in England. Bought a Z28 before moving back to the US. The Z28 converted me from Japanese to American vehicles.
Not new to the American muscle car arena. This is my first Corvette but I've been admiring them since I was a kid. Finally at a point in life where I can afford my toys.

On the lookout for a Blk/Blk 6spd Z51
I just joined the ranks...and I have to admit to not only being a foreign brand owner...I'm a bit of a U.S. brand basher! But only when it deserves it. I'd had the unfortunate experience of owning a couple of American cars in the past...and they were simply dismal. I've continued to be embarrassed by the automotive products that our country puts out (with a few exceptions), and I can rant on and on about it for hours. I keep trying to give thema chance, and they keep disappointing me. Meanwhile, MOST of the foreign brands get better and better.
Well...then I had to go rent a C06 vert for the weekend. Everything good that I remember about the old U.S. muscle was there, but without the hideous interiors, crappy build quality, mediocre handling, etc. I fell in love and immediately cancelled my order for a Boxster S, and put in an order for a C06 vert.
The car just came on Friday...and I'm crazy about it! Now if they can just apply the same thought to the other products that make up 98% of their sales.
So there are convert. But then there's a good chance I'm just getting weird in my old age...since I also changed the order and got it with the A6 (which I may ultimately regret).
My first car was a '82 Firebird - two years (and lots of problems later) I had finally had it, and traded it in for a 1984 GTI. 22 years (and 7 Japanese and European cars later) I'm back into an American car.
C5 almost had me... but the C6's improvements clinched it for me!
I drove Japanese 2-seaters exclusively for 37 years: '69 Datsun 2000 roadster, (two of 'em), 1971 Datsun 240Z, 1981 Nissan 280ZX/Turbo, 1994 Nissan 300ZX/TwinTurbo. One look at the Nissan 350Z showed me it has far more in common with their old 240SX than my 300ZX. When Nissan abandoned the GT car business, I found and fell in lust with the C6.
I came from an '04 Mustang GT, 5-speed (very fun to drive). Had a used Vette 30 years ago, but always wanted my own new one. Would have taken ANY year if I could have had one! Just happened that the C6 coming out was about the same time I could afford one. Waited til second year of production, though.
The C6 is the first American car I have ever owned...and only the second brand new car I have purchased. My list of foreign vehicles is a diverse group that includes a few icons:
VW Microbus
BMW 320
Mazda Pickup
Mazda Miata
Subaru Outback (only other new car)
Honda Accord Coupe
VW Touareg
Acura RSX
VW Jetta
Obviously nothing on this list comes close to the Vette's performance envelope. Several of these cars offered a great deal of driving satisfaction but nothing like the Vette.
Had VW, BMW,Porsches. Never owned a musclecar. Liked Corvettes until the EPA srangled the life out of 'em. One night, my wife calls me into the living room to see this commercial ( boy's dream).
My mouth literally hung open, drooling with the kind of lust I hadn't felt for a car since my first 911SC. OMG! I KNEW right then I had to have one. Even my wife, who is as far from a car nut as you can be, said "You should get one of THOSE!"
I had to wait until the '06 came out, but I did the museum delivery, and it was a life-altering experience.
