So what's with the rear end clunking thing? If you take the car in ,do they charge you to change the differrential fluid? If the fluid change doesn't work and they have to put in new clutches, is it a waranty
repair? Is this something that is caused by faulty fluid, bad clutches
or poor design.
I have the noise on my A6 vert with 1300 miles. I only hear it when I back out of my garage and turn into the street. Once I get going it disappears. It is a very muted grind that I thought was caused by my tires. I never realized what that noise was until yesterday.
Would this eventually freeze up the rear end or just make noise forever.
I'm taking it in to a dealer tomorrow.
The dealer put the secret sauce additive into my differential under warranty. Grind is pretty much gone from what I can hear. I found that turning up the sound system settles it.

Mine rumbled and mumbled at around 3K and the secret sauce worked for about 4k more miles. Now I have rumble, mumble, snap and pop! Everything but the crackle! Im taking it in next week and requesting the clutch packs.
