I just had a close call. I'm driving along (this time in a 270 degree exit ramp) hit a small bump and the door pops slightly open. The latch held the door from flying completely open but Not good!! I didn't get any warning that the door wasn't closed correctly.
This has happened two other times in 10k miles and one year. The other times were on straight-aways but this time there was definitely some pucker factor. I examined the door latch but don't find any adjustments....
I recall a post not too long ago about a door that came all the way open during a hard turn. Nothing else, though.
Question - is there any way that your leg, arm, or some other appendage might have accidentally tapped the inner release button while you were driving? My left leg/knee is close to the button as I drive, and my hand is near there as well when on the armrest. Just a thought.
A week after I got my car back in 2005, my wife and I were at a friend's house and were about to leave. She opened the passenger side door and got into the car. When she attempted to close the door, it would not latch at all. We were 100 miles from home and she had to hold the door for the entire ride home. Without her holding it, the door was free to open completely. It was a slow careful ride home.
The solenoid for the door latch had to be replaced. The problem has not occurred since being repaired. It is scary to know that if the solenoid fails, the door will swing open.
You problem sounds slightly different since you say your door open partially opens. It still may have to do with the solenoid.

Has anyone had similar issues?
I've read about it a few times. You need to take it back to the dealer and have them look at it and get it on record.

I thought about it but when I pulled over to fully open the door, I couldn't until I pushed the unlock button. I'll keep that in mind...Thanks

I guess if you didn't love your wife so much, It could have been a fast, not so careful ride home
I've tried opening my door while driving and it wont open while the car is in "D". I've also hit the button plenty of times while driving and it has never caused the door to open. Maybe you should take it to the dealer and get it looked at. Just dont fall out of the car on the way there. That would really suck.
It will be important for the dealer to determine if the cause is a mechanical problem with the latch or an electrical problem causing the latch to release.
The dealer can call Technical Assistance to see what is in their YB data base.
