Default Need help with explaining DBS

Guys I have a Auto 05 C6 and i believe I have encountered DBS. When I go to close the door and walk away the horn sounds very weak, I have checked to see if there is a light on anywhere but no luck, I need help though on how to explain this to my service manager the dealership in Bradenton, FL seems so clueless, so any suggestions on how I should handle this would be great.

Thanks again.

Please explain problems in more detail that make you believe your car has DBS. Maybe it's just a bad horn?

So far DBS had only afflicted MN6 cars.

The short version is that overnight a rouge module turns itself on and drains the battery below the point that the car will start. How do I know this? 8!/2 occurances since June of 06. My servicing dealer is working with GM on a solution.

You most likely don't have it.

Thanks for the replies, so far DBS only affect the Manual tranny's that I did not know. In the past if i left my radar detector plugged in or a light on or my cell phone charger plugged in overnight the horn would sound weak, once I would unplug the itesm the horn would get stronger and stronger so if its not DBD then it must be something similiar.

The car starts fine though I have never had a problem when i push the start button it always cranks up like a charm, but something is draining my battery...

Is the weak-sounding horn the only symptom? If everything else (including cranking power) is OK, I doubt that it's a battery problem.

Yes the horn is the only thing that sounds weak, something is draining the battery but the question is what..

If your battery was drained enough for your horn to sound weak, you would DEFINATELY notice it when you cranked the car. If the car starts normal, with no strain, then the problem is the horn, not the battery.

Time to revisit this thread again, the car is at the dealership and they said that I hit something and thats whats causing the horn not to work which is like $80.00 plus labor of course they call me 4 hours after they have had the car, I am furious they said since I did something that its not a warranty problem, I told them to contact the owners son who I know very well, lets hope they have enough sense to help me out.

This is why I can't fcking stand General Motors, and their bs copout stories.

I would go the dealer and have them show you the impact area. Maybe it is something you can tackle yourself.

I agree with the fact that it's the horn, not DBS. If the car is actually starting and the electronics are not freaking-out and resetting themselves everytime you push the start button, then it is not DBS. Probably a bad horn.

BTW - for 2005, DBS only hit the MN6 cars. It also afflicts 2006 cars, including automatics, for a different cause.

"Hit something"? What does that mean? That you hit something with the car? That you hit the horn with your hand? I'd be curious to know their basis for making such a statement.

BTW, your gripe shouldn't be with GM, it should be with your dealer if they're making an unsubstantiated claim that you "hit something" and they're using it as an excuse to disallow a legitimate warranty repair.

They said that since I hit something which I have no clue what they are talking about is why my horn wont work properly. I have a horn issue for quite a while I just havent taken in to fix it yet, but now it sounds real weak. What pisses me off is that they think they can skirt the issue and not fix it since they have some lame *** excuse that I caused the damage, where in the world is the horn located underneath the car according to them if they think I made it not work properly.

Any ammunition you can provide would be great, I have left word with the owners son but he hasnt called me back yet, I dont want to leave the car overnight either.

If the Horn is weak you have a minor short in the Horn circuit.

Get the dealer to fix it so you can be more Horney

I told the service manager just park the car out front and I will take it elsewhere, I wonder if I can have better luck at another Chevy dealership?
