I had an evil GSXR big bore and around town it would get hot and ping like crazy on 93 pump gas. Race gas, at $5 per gallon was perfect. If you run race gas on a stock car you are just wasting money and will probably not even feel it. I race MX on an RMZ 450 and all race gas does is make it hard to start.
I also find it funny with the 600cc bikes using mid grade stuff when it's a higher revving engine. Not sure about compression though.
Edit: You are right with the 6's, I read a few clips that say use 86 or higher in that manual and it's designed to use 87.
yeah, i know these 600 has around 16k rev limit now a days. maybe yahama figures there is only one reason folks get the R1. i know my old 99 900rr even stated to use 86 and up.

you would think that is the case, compression on these bikes are all pretty close. actually the 600 has "slightly" more compression then the 1000 cc. to give you an example R1 compression is 12.4 vs R6 compression is 12.8. if my spec if alittle, feel free to correct me.
