I, like IRIDELOW in a previous post, purchased a 2005 C6 about 3 weeks ago and it didn't have the Navigation CD. I honestly didn't think to ask about it at the time. I was just overwhelmed with the car and it's other features after moving from a basic '99 C5 FRC to this C6. Their parts department doesn't keep them in stock and thought it would run in the neighborhood of $800. I've since done some searches online on that auction site we don't mention and found hundreds of them at prices much less than $800, but I don't know if they're the right ones. Only reference to a part number I could find is for the new one (version 3.0 I think).
Getting to the point, is there anyone that would consider parting with one of their old versions? I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable price for it and I'm not asking for anyone to burn an illegal copy.
GM doesn't use the "version" number for their nav disc - they use the GM part number - it is GM part number 15932106. Your dealer will not know anything about it - and even if they do, they will charge you for obtaining the disc. Mine told me to obtain it directly from the production facility. You can order it directly from GM at their "Navigation System" hotline - (877) 628-3472. Since you have a 2005, you are not eligible for the 2 free updates. You would have to buy a disc. They are $199, obviously a lot less than the price you were quoted. As for getting someone on here to give an old one away - I don't know. I didn't save the old one I had in my car when I bought it. I tossed it when the new one arrived.
This is the second post about a missing Nav Disk in two days. When a person purchases a vehicle that is advertised as having Nav, the disk should be included. Particularly true if it is purchased from a dealer. For the dealer to then try to charge additional for the disk is dishonest. I believe that you should not settle for getting a disk from a forum member ( as cool as that is for us to help one another out) but should demand that the dealer provide a functional system. To not is sort of like selling you a car with the right rear wheel missing.....
