I have an 06 C6 since Jan 06. Four times now since new, when I have opened the driver door to enter the car (I have car set to lock after exiting and closing the door) the chime dings continuosly until I start the car. The FOB is in my pocket and was never left in the car. Each time this has happened, I have been away from the car for only a few minutes and never more than 50 feet.
Question: Has anyone else experienced this?
If so, what is causing this to happen?
My problem was the dome light turned on. It's easy to turn it on and not know it. Also the coutesy lights on the mirror sometimes get turned on and left on, another easy to do and not know.
I've had something similar. The car had a delayed start - the motor didn't crank as soon as I pushed the button and once the motor started I got 5 chimes. No message on the DIC. It did this twice in a row and then stopped.
Are you sure the door was completely closed? If you exit the car and do not close the door it will chime 4 times upon reentry. Because a door didn't close it interprets the door closing as an exit. Since the fob is still in the car it is warning you. This is annoying when when filling up with gas. I have to be sure to close the door so I don't annoy myself and others at the gas station.
If you exit with the motor running, it doesn't give you the warning on reentry.
Forvettes,
Thank you for the reply. I assumed the door was completely checked, but you may be right. I will ensure that in these situations that I shut the door more firmly.
Cheers
