Default Leftover 2006 Value

Could someone tell me what a 1LT 2006 Coupe in LMB/Black with auto. z51 and glass roof should be worth?

I went into my local dealership today to check out the 07 and found out that they have the 06 sitting there. I am sure that they want to get rid of it and would like to take advantage of this.

Thanks,
Rad

Its a two model year old car. So it has depreciated following the normal industry depreciation schedule. So it is worth about 30% less than its MSRP.

In theory that is correct but you won't find a single GM dealer out there willing to knock 30% off MSRP on any leftover 2006s they might have.

Of course not. The reason the dealer still has a 2006 sitting on his lot is greed. Dealers want you to take the depreciation hit, not them. Its still sitting on the lot because the dealer is waiting for a sucker who is willing to take the loss. That's what usually makes buying a leftover car a bad deal for the buyer. But eventually, the dealer has to cut his losses and move the car. He can wait and wait, and wait some more, all the time paying interest, or he can dump it for what it is worth and get out from under it.

I don't think it's worth buying an 06 unless you get a super deal on it.the sticker price is probably 49k- i got my 07 2lt,z51 in oct o6 for 41,600. That car would have the roof delamination problem i think, and no 100k warranty. 38k max would be a good price to me .

There was a dealer here about an hour north of Toronto who still had a new 2005 in their showroom at the beginning of 2007! They were still asking MSRP for it too, which was insane since one could easily get a 2007 at another dealer for less than they wanted for that 2005! Eventually I saw it advertised in the Auto Trader for $13k off MSRP. I bet they were offered much more than that when they first got the car in 2005, but greed definitely took over and they figured they could make a better deal. In the long run, that car cost them a bundle sitting there in the showroom for all those years! I'm not sure they learned their lesson though, as they've still got a new 2006 in their showroom right now!

Once again, let's put it this way: Carl at Boardwalk (and probalby others, too) was willing to discount a very nicely (but not lavishly) equipped '06 roadster in DEC.'06 by 12K off MSRP of 59K. For the math challenged, that's about 20%. THEN!

As of today, that was almost exactly a half year ago. And as said, this makes a new '06 two full model years old.

I have an idea what goes thru the heads of dealers, and there is a reason they're waiting for that person to come along and pay them THEIR depreciation loss.

Because there are customers out there who will do it.

Guaranteed, for every person like the OP who ASKS the question, there are those who just blithely accept what they're told.

And they buy the words and the car. Eventually.

Let us know how it works out. 2-year old 1LT obviously isn't blowing anyone's skirt up ... and simply represents tied up cash for the dealer. They're going to eventually want to move it ... but waiting for the uninformed buyer.

I bought a 06 Leftover 3lt Vert MSRP of $58570 for $48570 two weeks ago.

So, $10,000 off.

Not only that, they gave me $42K for my 2007 C6 1lt Coupe that I had bought for $44k only 4 months ago. I had also used $1000 GM card credit on my 2007 making it $43K, but I am not counting that, I also got another $1000 off this car making it $47570.

They then swapped on my $2000 GM chrome rims to the 2006 and put the comp gray rims on to my old 2007.

So figure, on a 1lt I would think at least $7000-$8000 off MSRP.
I figure that car has a MSRP of $48500.
I would think a fair deal would be $40k

Update...

I made sure that I was approved for financing in an amount more than necessary to cover the deal.

I then called the dealer (after having already been over there to check out the 07s that they had there) and asked them what they would be willing to do on that car.

I talked to the "sales manager" and he told me that he could come down $4400 on an MSRP of $51,000. I thought that he was joking and asked him if he was serious. Yes, that was all that he could do.

I thanked him for his time and hung up. Between that and the hassle to hook up the iPod, I'll just keep the C5.

You can do a better deal on a 2007 than $4400 off.

I bought my 1lt 07 in 12/06 for $4000 off of a MSRP of $48095.

Why would a dealer or anyone for that matter sell a brand new car for the same price as what an equivalent used one sells for???? They're not and shouldn't... Go to Edmunds.com and see what they say.. I bet it's over 40k...
