Default TSB Done Still Issues-Please Help

For a long time I have had a grinding noise from the rear which I could only hear when doing slow turns in my parking garage at work. Recently the noise increased to a loud clicking that was especially prevalent the harder you turned the wheel. I decided to get the rear TSB done.

The first thing they did was the fluid change. After returning to the office garage, I heard it as before. The next thing they did was to replace the rear clutch packs which I expected to take care of the problem. Returned to the garage today and found the noise is still there with no change.

Is it possible that this loud clicking when turning the wheel is from something else? I cannot say that this doesn't happen at higher speeds, but I only hear it at low speeds in the garage because the acoustics are quiet and contained.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Funny enough I asked that they check this when I went in the first time. I noticed that my rear passanger tire is always 2psi lower than the others. They say that they found nothing.

Wouldn't hurt to check your sway bar bolts and your axle nuts. Those are easy things to try.

Does it only happen in the garage at work? Reason I ask is that if the garage is a concrete floor, you can get a lot of noise from the tires when turning that is not related to anything wrong with the car.

Went back to the dealer today as my second vert top liner was in and ready for replacement.

I had the tech sit with me in the car and I drove tight circles. Turns out to be from the front and not the rear! It sounded like the rear, but he confirmed by getting out the car and I drove around him. Seems it is coming from both front tires.

I am now really at a loss as to what the issue could be. Absolutely is a clicking noise. They are going to look at it and let me know.

I had a grindig noise too untill I replaced my worn runflats. Dose it happen only when moving or at a stand still as well ? Check the condition of you tires, maybe you need to replace them. There is a TSB on a power steering hose or clamp not sure which one but check the dealer they should be able to tell you about this TSB. Good luck

I definately wouldn't describe my rear end noise related to the TSB as a "clicking", but rather a "grinding" or "chatter".

I agree w/ everyone else, there's a good chance it's the tires. Either making noise on the floor of your garage or a screw/nail or your tires are worn.

Does it only make the noise when you turn the wheel while the car is stationary or neary stationary?

The car only makes the noise while turning and moving. To me it sounds louder when turning to the left than the right although the tech heard it in both directions. The noise gets louder the harder you turn the wheel. It happens on smooth concrete (parking garage) and on asphalt (dealer lot). I do not hear this at speed, only when moving slowly. Doesn't mean it isn't happening at speed and wind noise isn't covering. Although you aren't turning the wheel that hard at speed.

My tires are still "legal", however, no question they are near their useful end. Is this a common noise for run flats near their end? I've never heard this on other cars with tires near their end.

Thanks for the continued help.

I've been getting this little click myself. But not on turning.

I get it when I slowly take off from a standing start. My car is a manual.

You'll hear a slight, but audible click seemingly coming from the driver's side rear or the tunnel area.

Had a similar issue when I picked up my 05 used. Went to the dealer they flushed the rear. Problem was still there. Dealer became an a## when I called back, so I started checking on my own.

Problem ended up being loose lugnuts in the front to the point they were almost hand tight. Torque everything back to specs and retorque the rears. No noise since. Just a guess, but it may be a similar issue.

With any luck it is gone.

Well I had a clicking sound too at the rear and the dealer found that my rear sway bar had broken at the joint. They ordered the part and said to bring the car early next week. I will report back my results when they fix it.

Dealer claims the issue was a loose caliper retaining bracket or some such. I guess I will see tomorrow in the parking garage at work.
