Default Passenger Window Problem

It all started last weekend when we reinstalled the targa top after a wonderfull sunny afternoon drive. The passenger side window on our '07 A6 coupe decided to go up and down (indexing about 1/2 inch) for about 15 seconds. This occurs everytime the car is started or turned off. We removed the top and reinstalled it several times thinking something may not be aligned properly. I also tried the window index solution of holding the button for a few seconds after closing the window. There seems to be nothing out of alignment. Drivers side window is fine. Like I said, this happens every time the car is started, every time its turned off, and every time the passenger door is opened and closed. By the way, it only does this in Park...it stops going up and down when I shift to Drive or Reverse. Any suggestions? I hate to think of a dealership visit and leaving it if I don't have to.

Like many electronic "glitches".....try something simple first. Disconnect the battery & then reconnect. That's been known to reset a number of mysterious problems. May not work, but hey....it won't hurt!

Window re-index procedure is not just lifting the button up for a few seconds:

Power Window Initialize
After a power reconnect such as battery replacement, the
window index-up feature will not function until the system
is initialized. Once power is restored, do the following:
1. Close the door.
2. Raise the window by pulling up the switch.
3. Hold the up switch for three seconds after the
window is closed. Release the switch.
4. Hold the up switch again for three seconds and
release.

You will have to reset the window indexing for both windows after this one. Do it correctly.

Raise the window and hold the up switch an extra 3 seconds. Release. Without lowering the window, hold the up switch again for 3 seconds. Release. Done.

Happened to me(07 vert), same thing. I brought it to my dealer, they found a bulletin on the window indexing, on the 07. They will fix it for you!

Thanks for your replies! I just called the local dealership and the shop foreman is checking for a service bulletin on this problem. Hopefully its an easy fix and I won't have to leave it overnight like I did for a new alternator. Gotta love warranties...with all the electronic stuff. I can assure you I'll be getting an extended protection plan before 12 months is up!

Ranrich, I just sent you a PM. I have developed the same problem on my 2007 coupe, only on the drivers window.

How was your problem finally solved?
