Default how many days?!

So i called my local dealer in order to schedule a day to get my roof looked at. I first asked if i could just drop off the roof and not the entire car and the representative responded angrily saying that it was absurd not to bring in the whole car. After leaving my name and number, i asked how many days it would take for everything to be finished. I thought that it would be a day at the most but the guy said anywhere from 3 days to 5 days. I understand if i need a whole new top it'd take that long, but i remember reading that they do not even do that anymore. So how long does the job really take? Anybody else have to drop off their car for such an extended period of time?

There is absolutely no reason why they need the entire car. Depending on the condition of your top (any separation vs no separation), they either order a new top (which does not come painted) or they inject adhesive foam in your existing top. Either way, your car is not needed. If they need to paint a new top, the old top is all they need to color match.

My top was replaced, and all I left at the dealer was the old top. When the new top was ready, they called me and I went and got it.

Find yourself a new dealer.
