Default Upgrading Audio Bose/Nav

Hey guys. Well I've searched around here through thick and thin and did not find any real answers to my concerns. I want to keep the original factory radio but change everything else. Kind of a guy who always wants the best, money non issue (to a degree). So if you could be so kind to suggest the following components I surely would appreciate it.

Amp:

Door Speakers:

Rear Speakers:

Tweets:

Crossover thingie:

Wiring Harness:

Wire:

I would like an IpoD aux option if possible too.

I've read Focal's are pretty good and Alpine PDX amps are good. Can anyone give me some first hand opinions on what equipment they think is best?

Thanks guys.

I do wonder about the choice of the JL Audio stealthbox though. I've heard a lot of people say the C6 version of it does not sound very good at all. And for the high price, you could build something much better.

No, I perfer to think somewhere around 6K. As far as the stealthbox, it was fast. Was going to build one into the left compartment as RMP (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ight=subwoofer) did, still might or even get a custom box, but reached the point that I just wanted a drop in. Spent too much time on mounting all the Pioneer add-ons and Boston filters behind the seats. Wedging in the twin amps, backup camera interface, and supporting power stuff in the right compartment with the C6 communications module. Ann** Retentive wireing, and so on.

I did almost exactly what you are shooting for. I wanted the stock NAV head unit so I could keep my HUD intereface, but I wanted much better sound quality and IPOD integration. This solution worked out for me for about $4K total installed cost. Sounds great and looks low profile. I highly recommend JL Audio for amps and subs. I have JL Audio speakers (their top of the line ZR rated) in my other car - Chevy Avalanche - and they sound great as well. I think the JL Stealthbox sounds OUTSTANDING. Just my .02.

Year: 2005
Model: Coupe

Head Unit: Stock Bose with NAV and HUD interface
Processor: Bose
Front Speakers: Dynaudio 240 Mk II Components

Rear Speakers: None
Sub (s): JL Stealthbox 10W3v2-D2
Amplifier (s): JL Audio 300.2 (front), JL Audio 250.1 (sub)
Car PC: None
Sound deadening: Dynamat Extreme in doors and in back
Wires: JL Audio
Other: JL Cleansweep w/ IPOD connection in console
Install + System Cost: $3500

in all honesty I'm not really looking for sound deafoning subs. Just clean loud mids and highs. Don't think I'm going to be putting any kind of subs in the rear. Gettin too old for that.lol

I hear you. I don't listen to boom boom music either, but consider the JL Stealthbox for your ride. It really adds texture to the sound without being ugly or crass. This is the first car I put a sub in (I used to think exactly as you do that these were only for rap or techno boom boom) and now they go in all my rides. Delete the rear speakers that really don't provide much, go with a first class front stage - dynaudio, JL audio, focal - component speaker system. Drive them with high quality amps - I like JL audio because they sound great and are VERY consistent. Top it off with a nice tight sub and I'll bet you'll be happy.

Best of all I retained all the stock radio/nav functionality including the interface to the HUD for driving directions.

My thoughts exactly. I used to have MB Quarts in my previous cars and they sounded awesome. I want to try focal now. Would you say the Alpine PDX amps are sufficient? Can you please give me specific sizes and models for the speaks u mentioned above. Thanks man, this is what I'm lookin for. BTW did u get an ipod connection with this setup.

You definitely need subs if you want to have a well rounded system - absolutely necessary. It's not just for ghetto rap. My $0.02.

A sub will really fill the sound out, no matter what you listen to.

I completely agree! When I was building up the system in my C5, there was a point when I had all the speakers hooked up except for the subwoofer, and there was just far too much missing from the music without it.
