This is a manual shift 06 with 4000 miles on it. Recently the engine has not been turning over (starter not engaging). It is as though the clutch pedal is not pushed down, although it is. I have to release the clutch pedal and push it down again before it starts. This has happened about 3 times in the past week. It has been OK prior to now. I wonder if it is an intermittent clutch interlock switch or an associated relay? Has anyone run into this problem?
I have an '07 A6 with 2k miles. Recently I have experienced something similar. I press the brake, then press the starter button, nothing happens, not even a relay click. There is no "Press Brake" message on the DIC. When this occurs, I have tried several times with no success. I discovered that if I put in in accessory mode, then back to off, it will start. Wierd? Any one else have this problem?

Exactly! I have an 07 manual with 2500 miles on it. I push the clutch in, press the button and no starter. The dash power comes on though. I cycle the clutch and press the starter again and it starts. This happens more often than not. Anyone else with this problem?

I get the gauge needle swings, DIC warmup but no go. "So far" this has only happened on the AM start up...maybe it is just as tired as I am at 0500? I always figured it was operator error, interesting to see others with the same sort of thing.

I thought it might be the interlock switch on the brake, but in the past when I failed to step on the brake I got a message on the DIC, I'm not getting that message.
Everyone with this problem seems to have a manual trans. Am I the only one with an automatic?
If it is happening that often get it to your dealer. It should be able to be diagnosed quickly. Don't risk the car not starting at all and having to go throught the problems of towing.
Since this doesn't seem to be a wide spread problem, my guess is that you will have to fight with the dealer service dept. and convince them to replace the intermittent switch. They'll just tell you there is nothing wrong because they can't duplicate the problem at that time.
