I asked my salesman if he could check the status on my car, and he said he was unable to. If I give my Full name to any of the dealers here, can they tell me the status of it?
Your dealer absolutely can check your order status. Do you have an order number (actually, it's a sequence of 6 letters)? If so, any dealer (including yours) can log in to VOMS ("vehicle order management system") and get your order's current event code. You can then translate the event code, as follows:
STATUS EVENT CODES
1100-Order placed at dealer
1101-Order accepted by GM
2001-Order generated to dealer
2005-Order replaced with GM Prospec order
2050-Order changed
2500-Order sent to production, preferenced
3000-Order accepted by production control
3100-Order available to sequence (now the tpw becomes more stable)
3300-Order selected for production by assembly plant
3400-Order broadcasted for production
3800-Vehicle produced
4150-Vehicle invoiced to dealer
4200-Vehicle shipped
5000-Vehicle delivered to dealer
6000-Vehicle delivered to customer
BTW, the clock doesn't actually begin to tick until you reach 2500. Until then, all you have is an order that's been requested by your dealer but not yet "picked up" by GM. Once you hit 2500, figure on roughly 4 weeks until production and roughly another 1 - 3 weeks for arrival at your dealer.

Nice job, Mike
That's a lot of typing.
Ken can check it for you, he's a Forum dealer out of Montana. Here's the thread.

Ask your dealer what his allocation is for your car. Ask your dealer for your build number. My fear is that you have a dealership that is "overpromising" what they can deliver. If you have an order, they can check it. The status may not have changed but they should at a minimum be able to tell you when there allocation is for and if the order has been accepted by the system. Along these lines are you ordering anything that is "non-standard?" Did you have to request a D30 RPO? If so, that could be the hold up as there is still a data table problem with the standard color override option.
Ha! You give me too much credit, my friend! All I did was copy and paste this info from an MS Word file in my computer's "Corvette Stuff" folder. Every now and then someone here asks for help with this stuff and I enjoy the opportunity to help 'em out.

Correct...if Lost Angel ordered an '08. The plant starts building them the last week in June, then the whole plant takes two weeks off. (Last year it was only one week) Once the workers come back from vacation the build is validated and production begins.
I know all this because my '07 Vette was the 737th car to roll off the assembly line and was completed on July 10th. It's very likely my car sat on the assembly line half-built during the workers vacation time.
Oh, and Lost Angel, it helps if you start buying mods while you're waiting. It gives you something to do.
