I was going to do mine in the garage on the floor but to be quite honest I am sick of working on my back. I did have the luxury of using a lift at a hobby shop which made the job way much more easier. Just remember to drill the tunnel plate if you arr going with cats with the wire extensions. Also having a lift makes it easier to line up the tailpipes especially with a catback system.
But to answer your question I have heard 19 or more inches,,,,?
There is at least two webpages devoted to installing headers however they are on a lift.
38, back surgery recipient. But I'm damn tuff & determined
Woa!!!!! Woa!!!! Woa!!!!!
Back surgery........ No sir!!!!! Get someone to install these for you.
You will be leaning over the car for extended periods, working in somewhat hard to get to areas, crawling underneath the car and making huge demands on you back.
Absolutely not!!!! And don't make me have to tell your wife.
Seriously though, get someone to install these for you. Not worth stirring up your back again and preventing you from enjoying your car after the headers are on it.
.........I put the "Mels" on my car. Jack stands about 14 inchs high. Started at 11:30AM and fired her up just after 7PM. Includes time for breaks and such.
Finished mine (LG's) this weekend. Never took the front tires off the Rhino ramps. Had to raise the rear, replaced the mufflers, about 19-20". It was tight, so I would not recommend if you are not fit and flexible.
