You'll get responses all over the board on this one. I ordered my coupe with nav and I'm glad that I did. I like the built-in look (and despise anything that's clearly aftermarket or out of place on/in my car). The system works well, looks great. I especially like that it's integrated with the HUD (something that no aftermarket unit will be). Yeah, it's expensive. Yeah, updated data DVDs cost $199. Yeah, you give up the 6-disc changer and get just a single disc CD player in its place. I still like the factory nav and I recommend it to anyone who's getting a new Corvette.

I did not order it with my 06 vert. could have used it maybe twice a year.
So I decided it was not worth it. After 17 months I still feel the same.

I got the NAV (BTW it is another name for GPS), and to be honest I much prefer my Garmin. Certainly having a unit built into the car is a plus, and it does offer some options that a portable unit cannot give you (such as directions in the HUD....which I have never used), but for ease of use and flexability the Garmin is tops for me.

Bottom line I would say is if you like it and spending the extra money won't break the bank then get it, if not look into a Garmin and save some cash!

I got nav in my '05 because of a deal I got on the car. I hate the Corvette nav because it is very un-intuitive to use, and I don't think it even fits the dash very well.

I also have an Infiniti M45 with nav. It's worlds easier to use.

I also have a $350 Garmin nav that I use on my mororcycles. It's easier to use than either of the above.

I just ordered an 08 Corvette, and despite all my bitching, I ordered nav on it. Why? Despite what a pain it is to use, this car is a "toy" for me, and I want all the toys I can get in my toy. Make sense?

No one has even mentioned the sound quality difference. The sound quality of the nav unit is not near as good as the non nav 6 cd unit. I have had 2 nav c6's and 2 non nav's in the last 10 months. Other than the non nav looking a little boring. I would pick the 6cd with much better sound hands down.

I guess the sound just isn't important to some people. To me, I have done without nav for years, but I WILL NOT, sacrifice the sound quality of my music........just my .02

Michael sums up my point of view exactly. The factory nav works well. There have been some disappointed users as it is not as intuitive as some of the aftermarket units (Garmin, Magellan, TomTom) but the turn by turn in the HUD and the units dead reckoning capability are excellent. I have not had a single issue with it finding roads or getting me to where I needed to get to including Bowling Green from Massachusetts and the route that it chose was the same one that AAA recommended.

Had the great debate with myself over this. Finally my wife convinced my that I waited all these years before buying a Vette, why not spend the extra bucks and get what you want. GLAD I GOT IT.

Agree that the Corvette nav isn't nearly as intuitive and easy to use as my portable Garmin.

I didn't order my car but I wasn't looking for Nav either when I went looking. Not worth the extra money to me. Maybe if you didn't loose 5 disk spaces and if it had a remote and if it played DVD video it would have been worth it but as it is I use my Garmin. It won't play movies but it does everything else.

I have the Nav because it came with the car, but buy yourself a Tom Tom and you will be glad you did.

I love the touch screen, and the ability to scroll through MP3 CDs.

And I think the NAV is easy to use. I figured out most of the options within 10 minutes of owning the car without the manual.

The only option I wish it had was a "POI by distance".

IE. Enter in Burger King and it will show you all the burger kings in a 50 mile radius to you.

My brother's Garmin does this and I like it.

I have a Garmin Zumo that I use on my bikes and in my Dodge. It is wwwaaayyy better. The Corvette's is completely useless in the sun and the routes it sends you on aren't very good to say the least.

Would I get it again? Probably for resale but for no other reason.
