I am planning on getting new leather shift boot and shifter **** from Gerardo, I was wondering if anyone here has had the shift **** done completely in leather without the aluminum shift pattern showing on top. If so please post pic.
I covered the aluminum part on my A6 **** myself. Had a piece of thin black leather, soaked it in water, stretched it over the stock piece and "sewed" it tight from the back side. Let dry overnight, trim, and glue to center piece.
After replacing the door button surrounds with body color parts, my manual shift **** is the only piece in the car that has that funky aluminum-ish surface. Body color inserts on the shift **** anyone? How hard would that be, and also have the stock looking shift 1-2-3-4-5-6-R diagram printed on it? I think that would look hot now that I have replaced the console & button surrounds with body color.
Slowly but surely I am working the interior away from all the mismatched looking cosmetic parts in the car...gray plastic, aluminum patterns, black something-or-other material on the door panels & dash, chincy looking vinyl shift & brake boots. It always looked like a hodge podge of mixed up materials to me instead of a clean design.
