I got 1SB (2005 equivalent of 3LT) because I specifically wanted most of what it included (HUD, heated seats, auto-dimming mirrors, etc.) AND because I wanted nav (ordering nav required also ordering 1SB just as it currently requires 3LT). The top option group is clearly overpriced but to me it made more sense to overpay and get the loaded car that I wanted than to save the $$$ and have regrets later. Now, after 2 years and 11,000 miles, I don't miss the $$$ and I have zero regrets.
As for the resale value argument of 3LT, I don't need to compound the dumb move of buying a new car by having more things to depreciate. The less you spend, the less you'll lose later.

I would suggest at least a 2LT. Reason being they come with the side airbags. That alone is reason enough. I do believe that as far as resale goes, most folks are looking for the most for their $ and listing a used vette with all the toys is simply more inticing.
That being said, I am writing this also to justify the fact that I have a 3LT Z51~ I feel better!

Use the 'Build and Price' link at www.corvette.com to see the MSRP of each equipment group. Keep in mind though when you settle on a price which should certainly be below MSRP, you are getting a discount on the entire order including the options, not just the base car.
Coming out of a Mustang Cobra, my 1LT is plenty of car. It has most of the same features as the Cobra did, but is, IMHO, a much better car. We went to the dealer and put together an order for a loaded 3LT (including Museum delivery). $55K for all the options that I thought I wanted. I'd never driven a 6-speed manual so, I asked the dealer if he had one I could sample before I placed the order. After driving that car, VR 1LT coupe (MSRP $46K), I bought the car that day. I realized in the hour that I was test driving, that all the bells and whistles that I thought I wanted were extraneous to why I was buying the car.
Memory seats make the car easier to live with (especially if you share with the spouse) but don't enhance the driving experience any more than the non-memory seats. Nav system is fun gadget, but I've gotten around just fine for 20 years using maps.
I do agree that you should buy the most car you can afford, I just don't think that all of the bells and whistles are worth the cost.
You are approaching this the wrong way. Buy the Vette with the options YOU WANT. Never SETTLE. If that means buying an option package just to get a feature you want it's been my experience you'll be happier in the long run.
And you know what, suddenly all those features you felt you didn't want will become appreciated and used, enhancing the ownership experience.

Yup, what AFVETTE said. Like buying a house (except for the investment part ). You'll always wish you had some feature later if you have the slightest interest in it at the time of purchase. But, option out the car exactly like you want it. Then enjoy it.

And thereby assuring the resale value of all Corvettes will continue to decline in the used market.
I have C5 Targa, just picked up 3lt Vert @ museum, bought the cat-back exhaust installed by dealer. GET THE 3LT w/6spd. This is a keeper! C5 was loaded, but auto. Love the C5, but the C6 is a completely different Vette!
There seems to be a presumption among many of the respondents that if price were no object, everyone would want a "loaded" car. Not true: if the price of 2LT and 3LT were swapped, I'd still choose 2LT.
For example, I greatly prefer a real, tactile console interface to a touch-screen LCD.
The LCD is not a standard component of the 3LT. It is the NAV option. I agree that I don't want the NAV screen either, but the other goodies part of the 3LT make the car more fun than the 2LT.
You only live once... do it with as few regrets as possible. I know that I would kick myself if I didn't order every option (except OnStar) on my 07 VR Vert with 3LT, Nav, F55 and Chrome wheels.
If you can afford it... Do it!
I ordered mine with the exactly the same options. The only one I didn't order was the rip off onstar. Who ever buys any car with the thought of how much it will be worth when you sell it except antique cars or something of that matter. When I ordered mine selling it was the last thought on my mine. If you bought a vette for investment you better change your financial adviser. There is no right or wrong option combinations. Its your car you pick the options you want. No right or wrong choices.
Why did you purchase the option you have? Cost? Like Gadgets? Must have? Performance related? I'm thinking of just going basic 6sp . Not sure if all the fluff is worth it. I just want to drive it for the fun of it. I can possibly get a new one instead of used with options. Not sure I even want the Vert as I thought I did before. I guess a Z06 would be ideal but way too much $$$ I'm thinking a 1LT 6sp coupe would still be a hell of a lot of fun.
Mine is my daily driver, and cost was an issue for me, so I ordered my MN6 coupe with only two options: Z51 and 3LT. The Z51 I got for handling, and the 3LT for the memory seats, the HomeLink transmitter, and the 6-disk in-dash CD player. If I wasn't going to drive it every day, I'd get a 1LT, cheaper and lighter and therefore faster, and I wouldn't miss the gizmos and doodads at all. I MIGHT change to Z51 sways and Bilstein or Koni shocks later, but that would be it, if anything.
2LT.....I wanted the better, more adjustable seats as well as the ability to select a different interior color (not available with a 1LT). The airbags were a bonus. Didn't need or want to spend $5K to get the 3LT geegaws and a poorer "upgraded" radio...
Exactamundo! I also got the transparent top and the polished wheels.
I got the 3LT and love the memory seats, telescoping steering wheel, nav., and really like the HUD.
I'm old though, 53. If I were young and money was a concern I would sacrifice the 3LT just to have a Vette.
