ok well i dropped off my c6 convertable at the dealer last friday for a few problems i was experiencing.
I was hearing a bit of a grinding noise in first gear sometimes when balancing the clutch and gas pedal
The convertable top would scrape on its way up and down against the fiber glass cover behind the seat (not sure what its called).
They found out that the grinding noise was a problem with the differential and some clutch components I still dont have all the details of what exactly was wrong yet but they did fix the problem under warranty. By the way is this a common problem?
They seem to be having quite a lot of trouble with the top scraping on its way up and down. They said there was no way to adjust anything so they are in contact with chevrolet trying to figure out a way to solve the problem.
any idea of what they could come up with?
The dealer has had my car for quite a while now would my warranty cover me for a rental from chevy?
I had my vert deck lid adjusted last week, It took them about a hour and a half. With the top down it would not come all the way down on the passenger side. Dealer did a great job looks perfect. Your dealer will also get it done also if they take there time.
If you have a PWR top have the dealer check the hinges out on the tonneau cover (f-glass lid on the top). If you or the dealer have forced the lid down when the hydraulic pump is pressurized, you risk bending the fasteners that hold the hydraulic cylinders on the hinges.

That's interesting because I have the same problem with the tonneau cover not closing flush on the driver's side when the top is down. About a month ago I was at an event where Steve Grilli was a participant. He's the Corvette Assembly Plant Quality Assurance Engineer. He looked at the tonneau cover and agreed that it didn't close all the way and said, "That's what you get when you put ten pounds of stuff in an eight pound package." He was refering to the convertible top barely fitting into its compartment. Basically he said there was nothing I could do about it. I'm glad to know there might be a solution and I plan to take a look at the hinges because I'm sure I've pounced on them a few times trying to get the thing to close properly.
My 07 Vert had the same problem with the top hitting the lid. Open the top to the point of the lid at it's highest open point. Let off the button so it stops there. Get out of the car and look at the bottom side of the top. There are strings running all over. Those strings hold the bottom edge of the top in during movement. My dealer figured it out..... they tied some loops in the strings which brought the top in so that it doesn't hit the lid. It was funny because they were scratching their heads as well. They started out adjusting the lid to no avail. It was put back in the original location. All is well!
I was referring to the tonneau hitting the top on the way up or down. If the hinges are bent, the top will hit the latch or the tonneau. Having one side higher than the other when the top is down might be a striker that is off side to side, a mis-adjusted tonneau, or something under the carpet (lots of wires & Junk)
Grilli was right when he said there is a lot of stuff in there
i noticed when looking at corvettes in show rooms the tonneau cover seems to have marks on them some seem to have blop of the paint(bad touch-up?,it's the power top.
my 2004 didn't have that problem on my manual top.
can those marks be fixed by the dealer?
