Trust me, I'm with everyone on here who agrees this thing is complicated to install, and seems to cost a lot of $$ for what it is, but none of the ones you listed above give the performance benefits the vararam does. No one should be buying a CAI for looks, they buy them for performance increases.
None of them offer the potential of leaking around the filter either, except the VR.

and all of them offer the potential of oil from the filter getting in and thru the MAF. I can pick apart a filter's design too. If you want to get technical, there is no aftemarket product out there that is fool proof when it comes to performance gains. Go to a dealer's service writer or mechanics and ask about the horror stories from an incorrectly oiled K/N style filter, and then ask about stories about sand in the engine due to a bad filter seal. See which one comes up more often

Maybe, but I know how to oil my filter, not sure how to fix sandblasted valves.

When I received my VR, I clamped the top housing to the filter housing using their rubber t handles. There was so much pressure on the area of the clamps, it bowed the center of the upper housing creating an air gap. Very visible.

So what has VR done to correct this? provide a thicker weather seal gasket? Changed their clamping mechanism? beefed up the thickness of the upper housing so it wont bow?

Which CAI is the easiest and fastest to return to stock, as I wouldn't want to void the warranty?

I am surprised to hear everyone having problems with the install. I did mine if under an hour taking my time, never having done the job before. Fit like a charm.

Sorry, neither of those inlets are Cold Air Inlets. Both of those pull from the front of the engine compartment just like the stock inlet. Cold Air Inlets include the Vararam, Hurricane, Xcelerator, Honker, or LPE to name a few.

You can do a cold air mod for the two you listed by doing the free cold air or the Halltech mod. However, a friend of mine did that on his and we compared IAT's. My IAT with a true CAI got to ambient much quicker than his did.

I already agreed with you about the VR's performance. What do you want, a signed letter of surrender? My point was that it is possible to build CAI or non-CAI intakes at similar prices that have much better quality and don't fall apart under normal use. The VR's design is very innovative and it very clearly has potential for awesome performance gains, but allowing grit to enter the engine is inexcusible, don't you think? Not to put too fine a point on it, if they fixed the build quality I'd buy one.
