quick question guys, does the amsoil severe gear 75W-90 differential fluid meets the specs of the original GM differential fluid? just want to make sure dealer will not say "using different brand will void warranty"...you know how these dealers are..they'd think of something

A dealer probably could argue about it, as the manual says to use a fluid that ".. meets GM Specification 9986115" and (at least as far as I know) most gear lubes don't specify that exactly. Which doesn't mean that they don't meet it, just that they haven't certified it. There's nothing special about the GM gear lube in the Corvette - they use the same stuff in most of the vehicles they make.
On the other hand, a dealer that's trying that hard to deny a warranty claim could always fall back on the old standby, claiming that you abused the car.
I become very suspicious of dealers that try to deny such claims, short of obvious cases of abuse. They do get paid by GM to do the work, so why wouldn't they want to do it? Unless they're hoping to bill it twice - once to the owner and once to GM.
I dont think they could tell and dont worry about it harming the dif it wont. See my thread "Amsoil and rear end chatter" in general forum
The guy changing it could probably tell - the GM stuff has a distinctive smell. Of course most GL smells a little, but you'd think this stuff came out of sardine cans.
This is what it says on the back of a bottle of severe gear:
"Specifications include API GL-5 & MT-1, MIL-PRF-2105E, Dana SHAES 234(Eaton PS-037), Mack GO-J, Arvin/Meritor 0-76N, plus hypoid gear oil specifications from all foreign and domestic manufacturers such as GM, Ford, And Daimler Chrysler."

But I agree it won't harm the diff.
The AMSOIL Severe Gear Extreme Pressure Synthetic 75w90 smells the same. I've read that the smell is from the high levels of extreme pressure additives in diff fluid. My wife hates it when I change my diff fluid... and makes me take the drained fluid directly, do not pass go, do not collect $200, to the recycle place.
