Initial Service Experience

Check gas cap
Faulty fuel gauge
Service TPM
Clunking rear end
Was told to leave it as they had to order the gas cap and fuel sensor cards. Sure wish they could have fixed the gas gauge with a reflash, but they said it wouldn't work.(So GM is replacing fuel sending cards for the second time). Yeah this is good business practice. Also said they would change the rear oil to help with the clunking. That tire pressure sensor seemed to be banging around inside the tire, is this possible?
Anyway I'm BS'ing with the service writer about the painted top(which I store under the bed) and he matter of factly said, bring it in we will get you a new one. O.K. went home got it and they will be getting me a new one(again). Looks like I'm single handedly going to drive them out of business because of their ineptness. He said I was eligible for a free car rental, so Enterprise showed up and gave me a Pontiac Grand Prix. (Three days 100 bucks) It really matters who you deal directly with at these dealers. The previous two times there, although the Corvette Tech did a nice job the Service Writers were quite indifferent to me and my car. Both of these guys are now gone and the newest one seems to be a keeper. Apparently these guys change jobs about as often as I change my under-ware(weekly
) It's a good thing that I am retired and have the time to fool with this car. Geeez overall this Corvette thing has been a real disappointing experience.

eddieAh yes the saga continues, while everyone is so obsessed with brake dust and color matching brake handles, my car has once again been in the shop to fix the above items, some for the second time. I'm happy to say that after two tops it does appear that they have finally gotten it right. Doesn't make any creaking sounds and the paint looks nice. As far as the fuel gauge problem, it does look like the computer reflash has done the trick. I actually filled up the tank and the gauge now reads full. Some people who buy really cheap cars may take stuff like this for granted but not me. A new gas cap did the trick and it no longer warns me to check it. New TPM on the right front and no scratches or scrapes to the wheel. Now for that crunching rear end, well, the service writer did say to give it 300 miles, so after they added the friction goo, it still sounds like a junker but I'll give it some time.
How much more money is GM going to spend to fix my junker C6? Let's see if they keep using those inferior, low bid parts in their cars, well it pretty much explains why they are where they are today. I know they have at least 5000 dollars invested in repairs.
I'm going for a ride

Last week, I took it to my local chevy dealership to repair the noise issue and fix my roof. I also wanted them to change the oil. One week later they had replaced the roof, changed the rear clutch pads, and changed the oil.
I was reading the service ticket and saw that they charged me for 7- quarts of oil. I went out and checked the oil level and found they over filled my car. So, I had to go back and they had to fix this issue.
My Vette runs great.
With all of this said, I still love the car and I will be a vette owner for life.
Mine has been in the shop for the following:1. 3 DBS attacks, with the resulting flatbed tows to the dealer, ending with the necessary reflash
2. Rear end clatter - new fluid and additive - no clatter at 4000 miles
3. Top refoamed - cracked 10 minutes later - new top (took 4 weeks, 3 trips to the dealer, and 2 trips to the paint booth)
I still love it, though.
2. for leak that I was imagining
3. replace power steering unit secondary to imagined leak
4. fix creaky top, which creaks less
5. replace front sway bar. I had a speed shop install a z51 sway bar and when the power steering was replaced, the mechanic didn't notice the swap. Something about a mis-matched clamp
The above hasn't been a major pain in the *** so far. The dealer is within walking distance of work and they have been willing to please. Most issues to me are factory related. I still can't believe it. Any other car I would be major league pissed.
