Default 2008 Center Stack Changes

Motor Trend states there is an interior update to the center stack, but I wasn't sure how far it went, or if there was honestly any real changes. However, in the picture that Gene (ClovisFox) posted within his thread, with the *very* limited view of interior, it seems that there is a difference in the center vent layout, especially the hazards switch. See here:

http://www.webpointusa.com/images/cu...STAL%20RED.BMP

Possibly the angle of the picture is playing with my eyes, but I blew it up in Photoshop, then took a couple snaps of my car in a very similar angle, and they just seem to be different to me (tho I'm probably wrong).

Does anyone have any new interior pictures of the actual TPW vehicles, instead of the Autoblog pictures taken April 30, as seen here: http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-chevrolet-corvette/

Thanks!

I'm not seeing any interior shots in either link.

Check again, mpuzach. Re-read what I wrote in my 1st paragraph above:

No changes to that area that I am aware of. Here is a photo that I shot from an '08. The matrix pattern surround may cause the appearance to be different. I've also been told that the 2008 console surround would be a direct bolt on replacement.

Here's a shot of my '05 (slightly different) to compare.

Here's another shot of a different '08 car to compare as well.

Default Is this the differance?

Look closely at the 08' and 05' pictures from Talon90. They do seem to be very different in that the 05 is one continuous piece as you see how it continues around the curve alone the outer edge. The 08's looks to be two separate pieces fitted together in this area, and also around the top.

I can even see faux stiching along the top in the first picture as well. I have an 05, so I don't know what the 06's and 07' look like or when this change occurred.

Are you referring to how the 08 Console is leather wrapped but all prior years were not. From what I have read, the console is the same but in 2008, it is now just leather wrapped along the edges. This is standard for all 2008's Coupes and Convertibles. I'm not sure about the Z06.

Same part, just wrapped in leather now. Like I said. I have been told that the part is a direct replacement on '05-'07 cars and can be ordered through GM parts.

I believe the little replaceable section where people mount their "man switch" is gone in the 2008's.

Rick got a good one at BG. This is the base console (4LT has a different pattern). All consoles now have leather wrapped edges. The separate panel that was used w/ the old F55 switch has been replace w/a new switch (taken from my Impala BTW ) installed in the one piece panel. No more unsightly seams!

Posted in HUGE size for detail....

The 2008 console cover will not work on prior vettes if you have the Selective Ride option as this switch has been completely changed for 2008. I think the traction control switch is located in the same area and might work if tried to install the 2008 console cover in an older C6. So, I'm not sure that it would be a direct replacement (2008 console installed on an 05-07 vette).

Very small question: does anyone know if this IS really leather? or, is it a leather-like material on the console? thanks.

Other than the F55 switch, I'd bet it is a direct replacement.

Also note that the pods on either side of the instrument panel are now matte black instead of charcoal metallic....

GM's gonna sell allot of these consoles if they are indeed direct replacements...

But at 7/1 GM Pricing

I should have made that clear. Yes you are right. The "tombstone" for the F55 suspension has been replaced and the user interface is different. With that said. I have been told by Corvette enineering that it can be "modified" to accomodate these cars as well. You would need to buy the new user interface to adapt the current selector switch and the console surround. Other than that change the mounting locations and sizes of the surround remain unchanged and can be bolted on.

The airbag off light was relocated to the rearview mirror for the '06 model year. That will be a bigger problem for the 2005 cars attempting to change the surround.
