Default Short Shifter

Just wanted to say HI first!!!!

Got my Vette about three weeks ago, 2007 C6 Z51 1LT.

Well here is my question...I had a B&M Short Shifter in my old car and loved it. I have been looking for one for the Vette and so far have found B&M and Hurst make one. Which one would you get? I am leaning towards the Hurst.

I have heard of rattling issues w/ some of the Short Shifters.
I spent the extra $ and went with Callaway. Top quality and no issues what-so-ever.

I have a B&M Ripper for my C6 and love it. Better than stock for sure and no negative issues whatsoever.

Callaway has an excellent rep for this item as well. Get the one with the better price, can't lose either way.

FYI, do a search. Callaway and Kirban are the same thing. One costs a bunch less. If you look to the left under Corvette Store, click on C6 Parts.

Yes I know how to use the search function, I have been researching for short shifters online and figured I would ask what people are using in their cars...

Calloway makes the best.

Have known several that replaced a B&M or a Hurst with Calloway

Just put a B&M in my 07. Had a Hurst in my 04... loved the feel, but it was to noisy.

Not completely happy with the B&M as it rattles some under brisk acceleration in 2nd and 3rd.

Most say Calloway doesn't rattle, but some say it does. There are also reports of difficulty getting Calloways into reverse. Search in C6 Tech. I passed on Calloway after reading some of these posts.

Almost wish I'd kept my Hurst.

Just had a BM put in. Only have 300 miles since, but all feels well. Crisp and positive. A little rattle in mid gears, but no big deal.

The stock shift **** (original C6) is on, and want to change. What vendor has the best selection. Want to go as short as possible.

Someone claimed switching to a Momo shift **** reduced or eliminated the rattle. They posted a link with a pic. Sorry I didn't save the link. Do recall is was a solid metal ball...

No company guarantees that their short shifter won't rattle. I installed the B&M with an 8 ball **** and it rattled. Switched back to the stock **** and it no longer rattles. Seems the Callaway owners here have had the best luck with no rattles.

Just curious how loud is the rattle noise? Loud or just an annoying rattle noise?

Noticeable with the top up but not with it down... annoying in a car with 2k miles. The car is so tight and quiet with the top up that it annoys me.

FWIW, I did not install the metal bushings that came with the B&M. I'm sure the rattle would be worse with them.

Hmmmm I guess I will just have to get one and install it and see how annoying the noise will be. All my cars have had work done to them...and if I can deal with loud exhaust...then a little rattle I can deal with.

They generally only rattle under moderate to hard acceleration. And it's quite loud. I thought I could live with it but decided I'd try the Callaway if changing the **** didn't do anything. Fortunately for me going back to the original **** eliminated the rattle. And I have the replacement metal bushings (B&M) installed.
