08 test drive
I test drove a base 08 M6 coupe today. A few things that stuck out were the carbon fiber trim and wheels looked sort of cheap to me. Being it was a test drive I really could not dip into the engine beyond 5000 rpm, but it did feel a little stronger and louder. The new trans from the Z did feel more precise and had shorter throws. The clutch sure had a lot of chatter, more than mine did when new. The 08 still feels pretty much the same as my 06 so I'm not rushing out to buy one and lose a ton of cash just yet. I've read a few places the C7 is slated for 2010 as a 2011 model. If that's the case I imagine the mods for 08 are a freshen up tactic to keep the C6 selling and to cut costs. But I'm sure everyone said the same thing when the LS2 came out as well. At least GM is trying to improve things across their whole line, can't wait for the 08 CTS...
