Well this weekend I tackled some major projects. Exhaust, Interior Sound/Heat Insulation, Interior Bling, and Diablo Programmer. Friday I knocked out the door sills. Getting that old glue off was tough but eventually the Goo-Gone did the trick. Here they are:
I started Saturday by installing a Borla Stinger system w/ x-pipe at my on-post Auto Craft Center. I chose to pay $5 an hour to use a lift rather than wrestle w/ the install in my garage. I did it by myself and it took about 2 hours. I went slow and there were no real problems. I did spend some time removing a clamp and flipping the direction of the bolt so that it did not hang down. The install could have been done in an hour but at the Auto Craft Center they don't have complete toolboxes so everytime I needed a deep-well or a 1/2" drive socket I had to go back and see the attendant to sign it out. This mod gave me immediate gratification. I love the sound and the throttle response seems to have improved. I didn't include pics because everyone has seen Borla Stingers.
Once I got home I started on the interior Sound/Heat Insulation from Exotic Vette. This task does take a while so make sure you have plenty of time. It took me 8 1/2 hours(7 hours Saturday and 1 1/2 hours on Sunday). The instructions and layout are very detailed and straightforward. Here are some pics.
I've only been out once for a test drive and the top was off but there was less heat and noise inside the cabin than normal. Before going out on the test-drive I also installed the Diablo Programmer. I don't have a lot of feedback other than it seems to have revived the LS2. I haven't really played a whole lot with the programmer. Since the interior was apart I finished my leather boot upgrade and installed the shift boot from RedlineGoods. More pics.
Just thought I'd share. All these mods were pretty simple, just take your time and don't get in a hurry(this was hard for me because I can be impatient). Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.
Was the interior trim kit easy to do? Did you do that at the same time?
Thanks
Dale,
I had the interior trim pieces painted a couple of weeks ago when I had the car in the paint shop to repair some color matching issues. The center console comes out relatively easy and I'm not sure about the intrument cluster pieces or the steering wheel trim.
The removal of the carpet, seats, and console was really not hard at all. I've pulled the center console out before but as for the rest I had never attempted. At first, I was a little worried that I might get in over my head but the instructions that were provided by Exotic Vette were easy to follow and understand. The main thing is to just take your time. If you get tired take a break and go at it again once you have rested up. I know that today my back is a little sore.
I have yet to use the on-post auto facility, but glad to hear it's decent. What part of town do you live on? I'm by the Convention Center. Sweet C6 btw.

The on-post facilty isn't the greatest but all the people that work there are pretty helpful. They don't have a drive-on lift so I had to jack the rear of the car high enough so that the lift arms would clear my jacking pucks. If you have pretty good tools you might want to bring them so that you don't have to go and sign something out everytime you need something that is not in the toolbox.
I live off of Clear Creek just past the high school in one of the newer housing developments.
Thanks for the compliment.

Did Redline do your shift **** also? A very nice touch. Gotta love attention to details!
No the shift ****(plastic piece) I had painted at the same time the other trim pieces were painted. You can barely see it in the pic but I also had the e-brake button painted as well. These were last minute details I had originally forgotten about but while I was looking at pics of my car I realized that they needed spraying as well. I called down to Chris at Richey Collision in Houston and had him square me away.
I just did the insulation on mine. The hardest thing was disconnecting the cig lighter/power points.
I bid the job for 7 hrs. it took me 14 hrs.I took my time though and did everything right.I was sore the next few days.Took a trip L.A.to Las Vegas and the car is much quieter and tighter feeling.
I'm happy
