What does the NPP sound like when it is open? Is the sound comparable to any of the aftermarket exhaust? Corsa? Borla? Magnaflow?
It sounds damn close to the Bullets I had on three different Corvettes. A friend was with me the other day (Need-for-speed). He has had Corsas on a C5, and has listened to a number of exhausts. He thinks they have a deeper tone than Corsas. He thinks they sound like the old B&B PRT's that were made for C5's. I think maybe he's right, but I think these are a little louder, but similar in tone.
Jim, as you know, I did have the PRT's on my C5 before the Corsa Sports. I think the NPP is somewhere between the two in both volume and pitch. To me, that's just about right.
I just took the car for a ride, and was really thinking about this again. I really think they sound more like about 90% of a B&B Bullet, and probably like a Borla - although I have not heard a Borla in a while. It's definitely a deep, muscular sound.
Let's have a head count of how many people have actually spend much time driving one with NPP who hate it.......
I was referring to the incessant bashing by some here prior to it's release, with no facts and only poor sound clips from which to make their "expert" opinions.
I trust YOUR opiunion Jim and do look forward to this option on my car...
Not for the NPP haters, of which there are many here.......
(can't wait to pick mine up this week)
It has been VERY interesting to read positive comments about NPP from actual owners. I recall recently leading up to the start of 08 production that some posts were really down on the NPP as just so much factory junk.
Now it seems that this little item just might be a fine addition to a C6. I plan to order it since it is a factory option and I personally like those vs. aftermarket add ons.
There were 'NPP haters' out there prior to the introduction but none of them had really heard the exhaust very well under normal driving conditions. I wonder now what these folks will say as positive comments about NPP start to pile up.

The same thing seems to be happening with the wheel selection...Go figure!......

(with Gumby wheels, and Flapper exhaust)....

I knew where you were coming from - thanks for clarifying, though - and thanks for the compliment.
Certainly not everyone is going to like it - sound is subjective. But I agree with Oregon C6 that it's going to be THE option on C6's. I could not be happier with it - and I'm an exhaust "Junkie".

I agree with this. I've had mine for a week now and pulled the fuse the minute I got home from the dealer. The sound is similar to the B&B bullets but not as loud and not as much drone. I had B&B Bullets on a C5 and the drone was unbearable. I swapped them out for GHL Magnums with the 6 inch cans. The NPP, with the valves always open, is louder than the GHL but not as obnoxiously loud as the bullets.
There is a slight drone if I'm lugging it in a high gear. For example, if I get caught by the skip shift, there's a drone in 4th gear until I get up past 2000 rpm. There is quite a bit of popping on deceleration in any gear. Interior noise at cruising speed is very tolerable.
Also, I just installed the Mild2Wild switch today. The change in loudness when switching the valves in and out is noticeable, but again, noise levels at cruising speed is very tolerable with the valves open. Also, I'm not experiencing the drone at idle with the valves closed that some others here are. Basically, I leave the valves closed when I'm cruising on the highway and then open them up when I enter my subdivision just to **** the neighbors off LOL.
