Just an idea, with little tech brain to know if it could be done.
Is there a way an aftermarket product could make the power steering boost adjustable? If I remember correctly, the magnasteer is the same as other hydro steering units with a magnetically adjusted valve that controls steering boost. If this is correct, it seems that either a person could reprogram the boost curve (valve action) or an aftermarket valve that is more restrictive or something like that could be sold.
I know the idea above would not address GM's claim that the new rack is more precise, but it could at least add some heft to the wheel's feeling.

The electric power steering settings are all in the ECU and, as far as I know, are not adjustable, even by the dealer. Perhaps an aftermarket ECU would do, or if someone really knew what they were doing, they could somehow reprogram it IF possible. But I've heard it's not.
OMG, I think some posters just compared C6 steering to Mercedes... AMG or not, I don't see any comparison there. Mercedes AMGs are NUMB with a capital N. Put on your Nomex, dude (flame proof material).
Scottyc, too- the Vette will never handle like an AMG???? What the $&&%%#? The '04 SL55 AMG that parks next to me most days at work weighs 4400 lb and handles and feels like a PIG! Not a small pig, mind you, a full grown, massive, huge, gargantuan, FAT one. The Germans did what they could with that much weight, and it is remarkable, but they did not come close to overcoming the laws of physics, even with 516 ft-lb of blown torque. Oink.

Yes, I am an a$$hole.
We are talking about steering here Besides my 07 C6 which I love my D/D is a 06 MB. Turning radius is incredible , I can drink a cup of coffe and smoke a cigar it's straight as an arrow .

Yes, even I can admit that the turning radius on my dads E500 is smaller than my Corvettes.
Although it does have a decent amount of heft to it, it feels sedate and unwilling anywhere off center...it may track great on center (Audi is almost king of on center feel BTW) but beyond that they fall flat IMO

From my experience no car makes a u turn in one quick sweep like the
MB.& If we talk K turns it's a lot of work for my 07 C6. If the 08 is different I'll trade in my 07 for one tommorrow.

Other wise my next corvette will be the "C7".
Turning radius is still crap. It's the feel that's improved.
All things considered, the turning radius doesn't matter when driving through a road course.

Kidding aside, I do look forward to getting some seat time in a buddy's '08. The steering improvement does have me curious- wish I had some feedback to offer to the OP. I wonder how much the shifting is different too, tho I've never been blocked out of 1st gear or any gear in my '07, which is supposed to be one of the 'fixes' for '08.
