The previous owner musta scrapped the curb, because the right-front wheel has several "gashes" on it. This is the only wheel that's damaged and it's not too bad, but noticeable if you squat down and look.
This is a regular 18" C6 wheel, not chrome, so I guess there is a clear coat. If so, I guess using a buffer may not work well?. Are my only choices to either live with it or replace the wheel?
I have a set of polished wheels that I just replaced with a set of chromies and the polished wheels have some curb rash from the previous owner. I took them down to a local wheel repair shop that has done some excellent work for me in the past. The owner looked at them and told me that he could remove the curb rash by re-facing the edge/lip of the wheel, stripping the clear coat and then re-coating them for about $80 a wheel. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with these wheels yet so I haven't gotten them repaired yet. Based on the quality of the work this shop does, I know they would look great and I would have no problem using the wheels after getting them repaired. Living in SO CAL, I bet you probably have quite a few good wheel repair shops in the area, so this might be an option for you...
Think there's a chain called Wheels America or Wheel Repair. See if there's one in your area.
Not sure what is a regular wheel, but if you mean it's silver painted, to my knowledge that is a paint with clear on it.
I think the above $ figure is not unusual and up to you if you want to pay it. I'd think any used wheel here on the CF for sale will be more than that repair cost.
