Another Great Vacation
2 weeks, 5000 miles and alot of fun roads.
Went back to my wifes home town, Kirksville Mo. for a weding, reunion and family picnic. Ran interstate on the way there in 2 days to make the wedding. 29.9 mpg on the way there with an average speed of 73mph. Again it seems that you get better mpg in the mountians than on the flats. Though the rockies I got 31+ all day long on the flats 28+. Seems strange but 18000 miles of vacations on this car and this has held true.
The fun part of the trip though was on the way home. Did Estes Park in Colorado, Beartooth Pass by way of the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway and Glacier Park from the St. Mary entrance and the last fun road being the Coeur d'Alene Scenic Byway. Take a look at the map, this roads are all twists.
Most of these roads are speed limited to 35-45 mph but with 20mph corners it is still a blast. The exception to this being the Beartooth Pass and the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway. For the most part the limit is 65 MPH. Coming down the back side of the pass was a blast. Got lucky that no looky lou's where in front of us and we flew down the road with a BMW hot on our tail. The BMW could of took me at most anytime except for the 20mph hairpins.
Every one of the roads are really fun and have great scenery though in some cases really worn. Don't have to many pictures because of a major camera malfunction. Here are just a few.

Ready for the day in Rocky Mountian National Park

Up near the top of Bear Tooth looking back towards Yellowstone.

Neat picture heading to Glacier, Old Tour Bus.

St Mary's Lake in Glacier.

Almost home. The Columbia River overlooking Vantage.

It looks that way dosen't it. Picture was taken through the passenger mirror and that mirror is on the dirt side so we are on the right side of the road. Even though the bus is a little fuzzy I think it is one of the best pictures my wife had ever taken.
