I just had mine done, and it took three trips before they got a good one. The first one didn't have the trim strip glued from the factory, the second one had a haze (between the two layers?) that wouldn't clean up. The third one has the GM logo on it and is perfect !! Make sure you get the GM one first.
Call your insurance company and let them refer you to someone.
I've done some windshield replacements before on cars that had much simpler arrangements. A professional is the only way to go. There is way too much that can go wrong. At least if you have a professional do it, especially one recommended by your insurance company, you have some recourse if it doesn't go smoothly. No way I'd do it on my C6.
A glass professional said that they would "saw" the glass out of the car? There is NO way that is an approved procedure or in any way, shape, or form correct. The weather stripping is removed, they put tools into the gap, work the glass loose from the adhesive, attach something to the glass so they can lift it, and off it comes. It is not terribly complicated work. Once the glass is off, they clean the frame, reapply proper adhesive and stripping, and install the new glass.
Get a professional to do it, but certainly not the guy who said he'd "saw" the glass out. What kind of an idiot would do that?
Don't forget, if you have HUD you need to get the appropriate windshield for the HUD to work correctly. I just know you hate that that happened. I also suggest you go to a Chevrolet dealership's body shop and ask them who they get to do their work.

Yep, they cut the adhesive bond with the wire saw. They don't try to pry it loose because that adhesive is very strong.
Hey, I will standing right there, but one guy said they will
saw the windsheild out. I will only use a professional and
ONLY OEM Glass.
I am looking for info on the proper procedure.
Still busted and heart broken in Atlanta

Just call Safelite. They'll come out to your home or office and do it right there. I've had them change several windshields, and they have repaired the windshield in my Corvette. Nice job, no hassles.

For at least the past 30 years the way to remove a windshield is to saw it out with a thin wire between 2 handles. You're sawing the adhesive, not the glass. It's a job for a professional. Any major company will be about the same. Let your insurance company pick one. They've done this before and they will pay the bills until it's right.
Just had my windshield replaced by Glass Doctors with OEM GM glass and it's perfect.
Used Safelite for my Camaro some time back and I was very aggravated with them, 2 different replacement windshields and it still didn't look like factory.
