Default Skip Shift Eliminator

I read on a previous Thread the advise from a GM Mechanic that there is no need to purchase the CAGS interface. Instead to pull the #10 fuse for the Trans Solenoid on the Under Hood Fuse Box. I saw no comments as to the sucess of this.
For anyone who is interested this will not work. I tried it this weekend.

So did it work or not? Otherwise, your just stating you tried it with no punchline. Kind of like making a thread like "I walked outside today.....just wanted to say I walked outside"

There is a pretty extensive thread on this elsewhere. It apparently works for some, not for others. Some have reported a Check Engine Light issue. The CAGs eliminator is only $20 and simple enough to install with no issues at all. BTW, they DO fit '08's as this has come up before..

Default Read the last sentence

For 1.8 T. Read the last sentence. I said it does not work. To be more specific. Pulling the Fuse did not eliminate the skip shift. The dash lite still shows the 1-4 shift message and the shifter would only move from 1st to 4th. I also saw the Air Bag lite come on. This went away when the fuse was replaced.

Mr. Blais,

Welcome to the Corvette Forum. Not everyone here is an engineer, like you and I are. Thus, they are not particularly careful in their reading and are quick to dash off a comment prior to completing (or beginning) the analysis.

However, almost all of the non-engineers are wonderful people and strong Corvette enthusiasts, so just practice the same patience and tolerance that Dilbert displays toward his pointy-haired boss, and you will enjoy your time spent here. With your long experience with Corvette and GM F-cars, your wisdom and insight will be valuable to all of us.

I tried it too... pulling the #10 fuse (marked "Transmission Solenoids") did NOT work on my 2006 either. Very strange that it would work on some and not others.

The wiring diagram seems pretty basic... does that mean that there are two different wiring schemes in use for the Transmission Solenoid? Could it be a model year difference?

Thank you for the confirmation. There were mixed reviews in the lengthy thread posted previously. The overriding opinion in my mind came from shopdog who clearly stated that if it did work it would cause a DTC so that made it of no interest to me immediately. Actually, I've never been in the market for a CAGS defeat for the C6. The area I live in and the type of driving I do are such that I've never encountered the CAGS in my C6.

Or a Corvette stuck in rush hour traffic in downtown Dallas.

Point is CAGS elimination is good for a lot of us. I myself tuned it off.

I'm with you (only in Houston). I see no reason to run up to a higher RPM than needed. In the past two weeks since I got home from BG with my car, it has probably happened four or five times - it drives me nuts when it does. I put on the CAGS eliminator Saturday (I forgot to keep the one off my last car )
