Diagnose my vibration
Just got back from Atlantic City. Had to "limp" the car back due to a constant vibration in the rear end. It's not engine related (even thought the oil pressure seemed to be running low at speed (70mph - 35-38 psi). The vibration seemed to appear after a high rpm rev coming out of a toll booth. The top was down then, so I might have missed the initial start of the vibration.
The noise comes from the rear wheel well area, either driver or pass. side. It whines with the speed of the car, even while cruising in neutral (MN6) on smooth roads. Strangely, the noise diminshes on spirited right hand turns and stays the same on left handers.
I checked the axle nuts, they're fine. I'm thinking it's the halfshafts or diveshaft.
My Vert is an 05 MN6 Z51
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've already got a scheduled state inspection on Monday. I stopped in this morning and mentioned the vibration. I'd like to have a good idea of what it is before they start guessing like I am.

Other possible candidates would be a damaged CV joint or a galled wheel bearing.

I'll be taking her in tomorrow morning. I'll follow up when I hear something. Hope they get it diagnosed and fixed. Heading to Orange County and LA for some Reggae at the Hollywood Bowl!!!

Update:
Not a good sign when the dealer calls you to ask where you parked your black Vette. Mine is LMB. Doh!! Heading over to check to see if they used my lined socket and jacking pucks.

Warranty work done!!
Rear Fluid Change
Rear Wheel Bearing Assy. Replaced (mechanic never saw one so toasted)
Kudos to Penske Chevrolet in King of Prussia, PA. I had a poor
experience there about a year ago. Today, I was VERY suprised with the professionalism of the Service Advisor and especially, my mechanic, John Wood.
I'm heading back in a week or so for...
-Rear Carpet (where vert deck latches onto body - Plastic trim at rear pulled away and was allowing striker to hit it)
-Driver's Side Steel Grey Door Panel (mine buzzes with bass......an attempt was made in Bowling Green to fix this one).
-DBS Flash
-Radio Flash (needed my orignal NAV disc....not my "fake" update copy????)
Also..looks like my original GY Z51's are gonna give me about another 1000 miles or so. They barely passed PA State Inspection. I've got a bit over 16k on the originals.
