What do you think it would cost to go from a 2007 vert with 1200 miles to a 2008 Z06? Talked to my dealer today and they are going to get back to me later. They both are Victory Red and the Z06 came in last week listed for $77790. I would like to find a 2007 Z06 to help keep the cost down, But can not find one that is close to me in Iowa.
how is your current car equipped? do you want to trade it? will you sell it outright? why do you have to have the car you're purchasing nearby, esp. if a good/better deal can be had from farther away?
no matter what, I predict you'll take a 7-10K bath off msrp for your '07 if traded in.
per jeffhardy.com, you've got one '07 in IA, and at least 5 in neighboring MN. drive a little, maybe save a lot???//

I don't think he will do that good. When you trade most dealers will knock off 30 % for a one year old vehicle. I figure he will lose 15-18 K off the 2007 in a trade.

I want to trade it in, It has the 3LT, auto, chrome wheels, two tone red and black seats, black top. Just kicking around the idea and problem will not do it because I really love my VR vert.
About ten minutes after you get to that dealer, and trade your car in, they are going to rip your pants off and pop you in the keister. Trust me, what they are going to tell you your car is worth and what you think its worth, are going to be miles apart.

I'm sure you are right, So it will be easy for me to make up my mind.

I evaluated the same option. Ended up about $40K (out the door) and I have an 07 Coupe loaded just like yours. Again, this is non-negotiated but still really high.
It really depends where you buy your Z06. From a local dealer with a 77k MSRP it might cost you 73k to buy it. It depends how much you want a 1LZ or 2LZ, or 3LZ. If it were me I'd buy a used one with low miles probably a 2006 or 2007 off ebay or another online selling site for about 60k-62k. In which case if you sold your vert on eBay you would get about 46-49k (I might even be interested in buying it) it would cost you about 12k more + tax on the Z06 so about another 4k so 16k to upgrade to a used 2006 VR Z06. If you have to have a new one you can probably find one if you search hard enough for a 1LZ '08 for around 66-67k. Which would then be 22k more. If you go with a high MSRP like 77k maybe it was a 2LZ? then your out about 30k and maybe only 25-28k with the trade in tax saved...........
I'd just keep your current car unless you found that you don't like to use the top down.... Only 1200 miles... drive that baby!
You can usually get more if you sell the car outright over trading it in. On the other hand, the trade in will save you sales tax for the amount that you get for it and, in rare cases, the dealer might actually give you a pretty good offer for the trade. Rare but it happens.
If it was me, I'd put a Magnuson on the Vert and be done with it. Actually, I have done that
Just talked to the dealer about my trade "$30000" to boot plus tax, license, and title. I think I will keep my 1200 mile 2007 vert and enjoy it like I have since the day I got it.

I bow to your "correct-ness"! Using yours and the OP's dealer response, I'm figuring about a $63K orig. MSRP, and thus $18K off means $45K "value" by the dealer on the old, 1200 mile car with probably less than one actual year on the "calendar".
Then, a $77.8K Z, and coming off $2K, means a $76K car, minus $45K trade = right around the $30K mark.

We would all like a Z06 but if you don't track it, how much power does one really need to get from point A to point B in the real world? For $30K more, buy another car and keep your vert as a weekend garage queen.
